Andy McEvoy Premier Division

Ashford Rovers and St Peter’s both maintained their unbeaten record in the Andy McEvoy Premier Division when sharing six goals between them at Ballinalea Park on Sunday.

Chad Ryan gave the Saints an early advantage, but Danny Byrne converted a penalty to draw Rovers level.

The Bray side got their noses in front again before the interval, with Tony Harris doing the needful, but again Byrne grabbed the leveller, this time heading to the net.

Ashford Rovers looked to have won it when Andy Earls edged them ahead for the first time late on, but St Peter’s rescued a point in injury time when Harris hit the back of the net.

Elsewhere, Arklow United got their first win on the board as they saw off Carnew AFC 1-0 at the Back Alley (see focus match).

Division 3

Dearg Celtic moved back to the top of the Division 3 table after making it nine wins out of nine when seeing off Dargle Rovers 5-2 at People’s Park on Sunday.

Celtic didn’t make the breakthrough until early in the second-half, when John Andrew Kinsella opened the scoring and Michael Murphy doubled their advantage with a quality strike.

Dargle Rovers rallied and got back on level terms through an Allen Harris penalty and an own goal.

However, the visitors reasserted their dominance and scored three more goals without reply, with Alan Power nudging them back in front before Michael Murphy headed home his second and Martin Cullen put the icing on the cake.

Aidan Small had his shooting boots on on Sunday as his five goals helped Shamrock Celtic to a 6-2 win over Carnew AFC.

Aidan O’Neill got their other goal, with Cormac Doyle and Anton Romaniuk on the scoresheet for Carnew.

A Tony Conway hat-trick earned Roundwood a 3-2 win away to Coolboy Rangers, with Anto Phelan and Alan Byrnes netting for the hosts.

Meanwhile, Aughrim Rangers picked up three points as they received a walkover from Avonmore FC.

Wicklow Cup first round

Rathnew AFC progressed to the last 16 of the Wicklow Cup after coming from a goal behind to see off Conary United 3-1 at Rooster Park.

Pascal O’Reilly fired the Division 3 outfit in front, but the Village responded well with a Dean Franey double edging them 2-1 in front before Edward Doyle sealed the deal with a late strike.
