University of Liverpool lecturer Bryce Evans will recall ‘The Emergency in Ireland, 1939-45’ at the Royal Hotel on Thursday, April 11, at 8 p.m.

This will be at a meeting of Bray Cualann Historical Society

Mr Evans is making a special one-night visit to Ireland to present this lecture. Admission is €5.

Earlier that day, at 11.30 a.m. on Thursday, April 11, James Scannell will talk about ‘Easter 1944 in Bray, County Wicklow’, in Ballywaltr­im Library on the Boghall Road.

On Friday, April 12, James Scannell will speak at Bray Library on Eglinton Road at 11.30 a.m., this time about ‘Easter 1919 in Bray’. place each Monday night, except bank holidays, and run till the end of July.

No skating experience is required, all skills will be taught. Sign up for the open night via the group’s Facebook page and there will be skates and pads provided. evenings in St Peter’s Parish Centre in Bray, and Thursday mornings in St Kilian’s Community School in Bray. You must be living in Bray, Greystones, Kilcoole, Kilmacanog­ue and Delgany to take part.

Fáilte Isteach is part of a national Third Age Ireland initiative – the idea is that people volunteer their time to teach practical conversati­onal English to people from other countries who live and work in their community.

Improving their English helps students to participat­e more fully in society, take part in further education and gain employment.

There are also regular talks from different services that provide supports in the local community.

Suitable for ages nine and older, the workshop is suitable for those new to stop motion, those looking to refresh their sills, or for young animators who are already making stop motion films and want to take their skills to the next level.

All equipment is provided, including iPads.

The booking covers two sessions – mornings or afternoons on both days.

The morning sessions will take place from 10.30 a.m. to 1 p.m., and afternoon from 2 p.m. to 4.30 p.m.
