1 CULCHIE WARRIORS: Comedians Joe Rooney and Pat McDonnell will present their show ‘ Culchie Warriors’ at the Hot Spot Music Club in Greystones on Friday, April 12, at 9 p. m. Both veterans of the incomparable Father Ted, Joe and Patrick present a hilarious new show of sketches, song and stand- up in which they offer unique and fresh insights into the big issues facing the modern world. Joe Rooney ( Father Damo) and Patrick McDonnell ( Eoin McLove) are renowned stand- up comedians with a unique take on Irish society. Between them they have written and appeared in some of the most popular TV comedies of the last ten years; Naked Camera, Killinascully and The Savage Eye. They have been making online waves recently with their Joe and Pat sketches. They have adapted some of these sketches for this exciting new live show. 2 OPERA NIGHT: Aoife O’Connell and Ross Scanlon will perform at Whale Theatre in Greystones on Saturday, April 13, at 8 p.m. Join Wicklow’s best loved singers soprano Aoife O’Connell and tenor Ross Scanlon for an evening of operatic greats and musical theatre favourites. Featuring composers such as Mozart, Puccini, Gershwin, and Rodgers and Hammerstein it is guaranteed to be an evening to remember. Having sung in some of the UK and Europe’s finest venues, Ross and Aoife are delighted to be back home to join forces in the intimate setting of the Whale Theatre. 3 MONTH OF TULIPS: June Blake’s Garden in Blessington will host a fundraising event for the Christina Noble Children’s Foundation on April 14 during the Month of the Tulips. Admission is €6 or donation will be accepted, with all proceeds on the day going to the foundation. The tearooms will be open and there will be a free guided tour at 2.30 p.m. with June. Her garden is in the townland of Tinode and is spread over three rural acres.
4 VARIETY CONCERT: A variety concert will be held in St Saviour’s Church in Arklow at 8 p.m. on Friday, 12 April 12. The concert will feature performances by The Arklow Shipping Silver Band, Moon & Son (jazz musicians Nigel and Charlie Mooney), Alastair Davis, Ronnie McCormick, pupils of fifth and sixth class at Carysfort National School and more. Admission on door and the proceeds are in aid of St Saviour’s Church Windows.
5 BREEZEBLOCK PARK: Model Box Productions present their forthcoming play ‘Breezeblock Park’ over four nights in The Castle Inn. The comedy by Willy Russell focuses on Betty as she prepares for Christmas with the family and all the highs and lows associated with the festive season. The production takes place on April 10, 11, 12 and 13 at 8 p.m. nightly. Tickets are €10 and doors open at 7.30pm. 6 SISTER ACT: Bray Musical Society is kneedeep in rehearsals for their upcoming show ‘Sister Act’, taking place in the Mermaid Arts Centre from Wednesday to Saturday, April 10 to 13, at 8 p.m. each night. The feel-good amazing musical comedy smash is based on the hit 1992 film that has audiences jumping to their feet. Filled with powerful gospel music, outrageous dancing and a truly moving story, Sister Act will leave you breathless. 7 WAY WITH WORDS FESTIVAL: The second Way With Words literature festival continues at Arklow and Blessington libraries until Saturday, April 13.
