DIVING CLUB

Congratula­tions to David Speicher, who has had his first scuba dive, and to Khrishna O’Riain, who has had his first snorkel dive with Bray Divers (Wicklow Aquanauts) Sub-Aqua Club. The club has the most up to date club premises in Greystones Harbour. Training courses for this season have now been completed and new courses will commence in September. CUALANN SOCIETY

University of Liverpool lecturer Bryce Evans will be the guest speaker for tomorrow (Thursday) night’s April Meeting of the Bray Cualann Historical Society, the local history society for the Bray and North Wicklow Area, which takes place at 8 p.m. in the Royal Hotel, Bray, at which he will recall ‘The Emergency in Ireland, 1939-45’ and is making a special one-night visit to Ireland to present this lecture. All welcome – admission €5. Please note that the April meeting of the Bray Cualann Historical Society is taking place a week earlier than usual due to the usual meeting night, Thursday, April 18, being Holy Thursday. The death took place recently after a brief illness of Comdt. Paddy Rochford, formerly of B Coy. 21 Former members of the 21 Inf Bn FCA attended his funeral Mass last Tuesday week in St Laurence’s Church, Kilmacud.

Meetings of the Enniskerry History Society will resume in the autumn when the next series of monthly lectures will take place, planning of which is now under way.
