There’s a scary world of choice for your kids this Halloween

-

HALLOWEEN has captured children’s imaginations for centuries.

Hallowe’en originated with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, when people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off ghosts. In the eighth century, Pope Gregory III designated November 1 as a time to honour all saints; soon, All Saints Day incorporated some of the traditions of Samhain.

Each year families gather around tables and play Hallowe’en games and children just love the ritual.

Whether it’s bobbing for apples, trying to rescue a grape from a precarious mound of flour, or other traditional games, Hallowe’en is fun for everyone.

It is a time of year when they get to dress up, have fun and embrace their inner superhero or ghoulish villain; basically be a child, so parents will be thrilled to learn that there are numerous venues across the county providing frights and fun in spades.

The excitement is building as the days tick down to Hallowe’en, and with the midterm break coinciding, the children are already thinking about all the fun they’re going to have during their time away from the school desks.

The options on offer for day trips are plentiful and include venues where adults can also enjoy the fun.

At Well’s House you’ll find frights and fun in equal measure in a fantastic setting, where you can enjoy great food, sweet treats and coffee or tea.

Venues across Co Wicklow have embraced the spirit of Hallowe’en and gone all out to make it as exciting as inhumanly possible for your child.

Witchy actors have been hired, fantastic decorations have been hung, so all that’s left for you is to rock up and enjoy.

So if you’re looking for somewhere fun and spooktacular to go to this autumn, why not try one of these venues.
