ACTIVE RETIREMENT GROUP

AR are back in action with Christmas outings planned and their monthly lunches out. If you are feeling lonely coming into the winter or isolated and the weather is getting you down come and join the group, they happily welcome in members. The group meet most Tuesdays, so if you fancy a chat, a cuppa and some light exercise, bowls, music come along on at 11 a.m., they welcome any newcomer. CHRISTMAS MARKET

If you have unwanted Christmas decoration­s, the centre will be happy to take them. Would you like to get your creative ideas or skills showcased at this year’s Brockagh Resource Centre Christmas Market on December 15, costing €25 per space. The centre is taking bookings now for spaces. We are hoping someone from the community will volunteer for a main role in the Grotto with good communicat­ion skills and a ‘hearty laugh’. MOBILE LIBRARY

The mobile library visits Lynhams car park in Laragh every second Thursday from 12.15 to 12.50 p.m. The service has just got a new bus and hopes that this will be up and running in time for its next visit to Laragh (scheduled for October 10). If you miss the bus on this date you can catch it again on October 24.

The library provides free access to online databases including e-books, languages, magazines, downloadab­le audio books, newspapers from across the world and more. To renew or request items or to access databases from your home PC, please phone 087 9135229 or go to wicklow.ie (first ask staff for PIN number).

COUNTRY MARKET/ CAR BOOT SALES

We have now moved to the second Sunday of the month. Encouragin­g local and non-local producers of plants, vegetables, crafts etc. Our next event will be on Sunday, October 13, open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Bargains on practicall­y anything from household items to garden additions, and even vintage or antique treasures. Vans must be booked in. Please pre-book indoor spaces early. Contact the Brockagh Centre at 0404 45600, email brockaghca­rboot@gmail if you wish to book an indoor space or if you prefer to sell outside just show up at 8 a.m. on the morning.

LARAGH PLAYGROUND

It is great to see the playground so busy with parents and children all enjoying the facility. We would like to be able to keep the area clean for children and minders. Please remember, therefore, that dogs are not allowed into the playground area and that smoking is not permitted inside it.

JUVENILE GAA

Training will be inside the Brockagh Resource Centre’s hall, starting on Friday, October 11, Call Ray at 087 8511934.

HAPPY DAYS

Tuesdays mornings 10.30 – midday at the Brockagh Centre is for parents/guardians, babies and toddlers who get together a chat and play. It is a great chance make new friends and share ideas. Contact us at 0404 45600 at the centre for more informatio­n.

TAE KWON-DO

Children, teens and adults will enjoy Taekwon-Do, a Korean art of self-defence.

Benefits include improving confidence, respect, discipline, awareness, concentrat­ion, channeling aggression, balance, coordinati­on, speed, reactions, fitness and health. Call Master Kenneth Wheatley at 087 2547347 for further informatio­n.

Classes are on Tuesdays at 7.45 p.m. to 8.45 p.m. (seniors and teens) in the Brockagh Resource Centre, Laragh. Children’s classes are on Tuesdays at 6 p.m. to 6.45 p.m. (4-7 years), 6.45 p.m. to 7.45 p.m. (8-12 years).
