Unbelievable day in Aughrim on Sunday as the club claimed their first minor A championship since 1990.

The lads got off to a great start leading 3-2 to no score in the first 10 minutes but as in all matches every team will have their spell with Baltinglass getting back into the game and we lead by five points at half time.

In a ding dong battle we were three points down at one stage in the second half before we kicked 1-4 unanswered to eventually win 4-9 to 4-6.

This team have trained as hard as any team around and deserve every bit of praise they get. 10 of the starting team are underage next year so let’s hope they can put in another big effort and push on again.

Good luck to the under-20s who kick off their championship campaign away to Baltinglass on Sunday morning with a 11.30am throw in.

An Tochar GAA Oscarz - This event brought huge excitement to the highest village as An Tochar GAA club captured the imagination of the community and embraced the challenge of producing and screening Seven Movies!

The Talent in Roundwood is such that 60 plus volunteer actors signed up to take part.

Our actors auditioned and were cast in movies such as the Hangover, Bridesmaids, Forrest Gump, Fatal Attraction, The Godfather, Fr Ted, Hairy Babies and Sister Act.

Each of our actors were amazing, giving great commitment and energy to produce the best movie possible.

They practiced each week, picked some spectacular locations, found props in their attic and lured some family pets on to the big screen.

We at An Tochar have wonderful support in our community but also further afield as evidenced by our extremely generous Main Sponsors ION Solutons, seven Movie and eleven award sponsors who made our Oscarz possible. The cast members graced the red carpet in true Hollywood glamour with some winning an Oscarz for for Best Actor, Best Actress and so on.

Together is better, and while the competition was stiff and a number of actors and their cast won awards, undoubtedly, everyone benefited from the whole experience.

Congratulations to all involved! Awards on the night- Best Movie - Bridesmaids, Best Actor - Conor Davis, Best Actress - Katie Coleman, Best Supporting Actor - Peter Byrne, Best Supporting Actress - Liadh Cronin, Best Producer - Niamh O’Connor for Fatal Attraction, Best Filming Moment - Sister Act for the Ice-cream Scene, Best Location - The Hangover - for the Glendalough Hotel in Las Vegas, Best Scene - Fatal Attraction for the Bathroom Scene, Best On-Screen Relationship - The Godfather for Don Corleone and Yolande, Special Recognition Aware - Connie Byrne as Mrs Doyle in Fr.
