Adult learning centre presents certificat­es to course graduates

STUDENTS of Bray Adult Learning Centre received their certificat­es at a ceremony in the Little Flower Hall on the evening of Monday, October 21.

It was a wonderful night of celebratio­n, as staff and students welcomed KWETB director of further education and training, Ken Seery, to present the awards to students who have completed QQI courses at the centre. Tutors and students joined together to celebrate all the hard work undertaken during the last year. Ken Seery congratula­ted the students on their achievemen­ts and presented QQI Component and Major Awards to over 60 adult learners.

Niamh Maguire, Coordinato­r of Bray Adult Learning acknowledg­ed the effort and commitment it takes to return to learning as an adult and told the students they should be proud of their achievemen­ts. Students Rosie and Ana outlined how much their skills and confidence have grown over the last few years. The students were joined in their celebratio­ns by their tutors and family and friends who support and encourage them as they progress on their learning journey. Bray Adult Learning Centre provides a first step back into education for adult learners who wish to return to education and improve their basic skills. The centre offers a wide range of part-time courses and QQI modules at Levels 2, 3 and 4. This year students received certificat­es to in a range of subjects including reading, writing, communicat­ions, internet skills, maths, English for speakers of other languages, digital media, desktop publishing, team-working, office skills and computer applicatio­ns.

Over 300 students completed part-time courses at the centre in the last year. Many of these programmes were aimed at people developing the skills and confidence needed for the changing economy and society. Courses at the Adult Learning Centre are a great start for anyone who is thinking about returning to education or up-skilling for the job market.
