Supreme Altitude Fitness holds a challenge to help baby Georgia

- By MARY FOGARTY

SEVEN teams took part in a challenge last week at Supreme Altitude Fitness in Bray, to raise money for baby Georgia Heynes who has been diagnosed with stage five Wilms tumors, a rare childhood cancer.

Georgia’s Aunt Lauren is a member of the gym, as is close Heynes family friend Ian Coyle. Ian and Lauren asked about the possibility of organising a fundraiser. ‘We of course were more than willing to help out,’ said spokesman Jay Byrne.

‘We said we would mimic our recent Community Games fundraiser in which was a great success,’ said Jay.

‘ The word spread and everyone wanted to be apart of this great cause and local businesses start donating prizes along with sponsoring the event.’

Teams entered from Supreme Altitude, as well as other local gyms including CSP and Ger Conroy Fitness. Dublin Fire Brigade entered a team along with the Heynes family and another team led by Ian Coyle.

The participants all wore coloured t-shirts with a picture of Georgia on the front. ‘It was a really great day all round,’ said Jay.

Georgia herself made an appearance with her mam Zoe.

Local business Butler & Barry and Beatbox sent down fresh food for all in attendance. After four hours of battling it out Supreme altitude team 1 came out on top.

Next stop was Bradys of shankill for the raffle of all donated prizes from the much generous local businesses. This was also a huge success as everyone in attendance was ever so generous in purchasing tickets to support..

Organisers are currently collecting in the remaining sponsor cards and sponsorships and they will have a full count early next week to confirm exactly how much they have raised to help Georgia’s family at this tough time..

Georgia is currently having chemotherapy each week to try to shrink the tumours before getting surgery just after Christmas.

Her mother Zoe is also looking into treatment abroad with doctors that specialise in this type of cancer.
