ACTIVE RETIREMENT

Chair yoga continues on Tuesday mornings. Line Dancing takes place on Friday mornings at 11 a.m. in the Parish Hall. Everyone is welcome to join. Our speaker at next month’s meeting is Emer Meighan from SAGE which is an advocacy group representi­ng vulnerable and older people.

The numbers: 8, 9, 10 and 27 drawn in this week’s Aughrim Sports club lotto October 21 the jackpot was not won and there were no match-three winners. The jackpot is €2,700. The weekly lotto supports Aughrim camogie club, Aughrim GAA club, Aughrim Rangers Soccer club and Aughrim sports complex. People who support the weekly lotto are lending support to the local sports clubs who are very much part of the community.

TOWN AND COUNTRY MARKET

CARE OF THE AGED

The committee are currently collecting items to make up hampers for the annual care of the aged Christmas party. Items can be handed in to Martina Whelan or any committee member.

Couples crazy night in O’Keeffe’s pub Saturday, November 2, at 9.30 p.m. in aid of Knockanann­a Megger club. Fun and games guaranteed.

CAMOGIE

A big thank you to all who turned out for our annual Halloween fancy dress in O’Keeffe’s last weekend. There was a great turnout with many suspicious and topical characters. A very big thank you to Sarah and Padraic O’Keeffe for their help and sponsorshi­p of the event. To Paul Canna for printing posters and those who donated prizes. Your generosity is very much appreciate­d. Our annual general meeting will be held early November. Date and time to be confirmed.

GAA

Lotto results October 27: jackpot €14,650. Numbers drawn were 19, 20, 21 and 26. No jackpot or match-three winners. Seller’s prize Sarah O’Keeffe. Next week’s jackpot €14,800. Make sure to purchase a ticket to try your luck. Tickets available from local shops and pubs or from committee members. The club had a great turnout for their first night of indoor hurling in the community hall. Thanks to coaches and parents for helping. Also a big thank you to Steel and Spares, Hacketstow­n for sponsoring light and window guards for the hall. Sessions are broken down as follows: Junior and senior infants 6.30 to 7.10 p.m., First second and third classes 7.10 p.m. to 8 p.m. Fourth fifth and sixth classes 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. All boys and girls are welcome come along and join in the fun. No doubt they will be our future hurling and camogie stars.

SOCIAL NAOMH BRID

Knockanann­a National School will hold their annual Christmas raffle again this year. Please contact any committee member to donate a prize for the raffle. Parents are asked to donate items for the Christmas hamper during the coming week as hampers will be put on display early this year.

KAVANAGH HOME FIRE REBUILD APPEAL

A fundraisin­g concert will take place on Sunday, November 17, at the Mount Wolseley Hotel, Tullow. It will feature Jorum and Shawn Cuddy and band. A raffle is also being held on November 23 with lots of fantastic prizes. Lines are €5 or €100 for a full card.
