Secretary Breda Murphy read the minutes and correspondences and our treasurer Sue Wardell gave us a financial report. Members were asked to take part in the Gempack Baking Competition for a carrot and pineapple cake with coconut for the federation meeting. The senior citizen Christmas party was discussed, and Murphy’s Hotel has been booked for same on Saturday, November 30, at 1.30 p.m. which will be a great afternoon so please come along. The night’s competition was for a autumn arrangement on a board was won by Mary O’Connor. This was a great lot of entries and the judge had great difficulty in picking a winner.

Andrea McCann from Springmount Nurseries gave us a talk on spring bulbs and filling containers for same and a winter arrangement in a pot. She then raffled her work. Our next guild meeting is November 18 and all are welcome as we have a great demonstration on wool and spinning by Evelyn Shannon and our competition is for Knitted Hat/ Cap Or Headband. CHRISTMAS LIGHTS COFFEE MORNING

A coffee morning fundraiser will be held on Saturday, November 9, in Courthouse Arts Centre. 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Proceeds to help with the ongoing improvement and maintenance to Tinahely Christmas lights.

Last year there was major investment in rewiring and upgrade of the lighting infrastructure throughout the village, along with the installation of new lights, trees and accessories.

The setting up, testing and taking down of the Christmas lights is carried out by a willing group of volunteers. It is the generous support of the community and businesses which makes the Christmas lights project possible.

You’re invited to come along to this coffee morning fundraiser to help us light up Tinahely this Christmas. There will be plenty of coffee and tea to go around as well as a selection of delicious homemade cakes to enjoy. There will be some fantastic raffle prizes to be won. Thank you for your valued support.

REMEMBRANCE MASS

In November, we remember. During the month of November, we remember in a special way our beloved deceased family members, relatives and friends who have gone before us in faith. The annual Remembrance Mass will take place in St Kevin’s Church, Kilaveney on Saturday, November 9, at 7.30 p.m.

If you have lost a loved one during the last 12 months, and whose funeral Mass was celebrated in St Kevin’s Church, your family is invited to this Remembrance Mass.

We will also remember Parishioners’ loved ones whose Funeral Mass was celebrated elsewhere. ‘Eternal Rest grant unto their souls O Lord’. All are welcome to join in this Remembrance Mass to remember and pray for family, relatives and friends who have gone home to our Lord. If you wish to include a loved one, please contact Ellen or Mary so that a commemorative candle may be available to you during this special Mass. Together as a community, we remember them in prayer.
