BRAY ROWING CLUB AWARDS
THE success of members of Bray Rowing Club was celebrated last weekend at a dinner dance and awards ceremony at The Esplanade.
Some of the achievements mentioned throughout the evening included the races won by the under 16s, who were also Endeavour Award winners, the ladies novice and mens intermediate crews, and victories by the vets. The club did the London Race, and the Hobblers, another three-hour race, and won lots of races in the regattas throughout the season.
The chairman of the club Michael O’Toole was MC for the night, with the help of Andrew O’Reilly and Robbie Doyle.
The three of them talked about all the achievements by the athletes on various teams throughout the year.
A large crowd witnessed the awards ceremony, with an attendance of 130 people at the dinner dance.
They include members, past members, family members and friends.
The Esplanade served a delicious meal and looked after the club remarkably well.
DJ Ger Fitzsimons ensured that the 130 attendees were entertained for the night. There was a fantastic atmosphere at the event.
The night was not a fundraiser, but a chance to reward every member of the club for their efforts.
Cllr Aoife Flynn Kennedy was among the attendees and is a great advocate for the club. As the club expands, they hope to expand their facilities, with 60 members currently using a shed with one shower on the seafront.
The dedicated coaches are all volunteers.
