All is Safely Gathered In: This Friday night a celebratio­n of Harvest in music, scripture, poetry and prose, takes place at 8 p.m. in St Patrick’s Church, Powerscour­t, in the company of the Stedfast Band. Tickets are €10 per person, payable at the door, and includes refreshmen­ts after this event.

Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament: Kilmacanog­ue – First Wednesday of each month in St Mochonog’s Church, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.; Enniskerry – After 10.15 a.m. Mass each Friday morning in St Mary’s Church.

Our New Parish Pastoral Council: Thanks are extended to all parishione­rs who have been praying for the current process of renewal/expansion of our PPC Six new nomination­s were received. An excellent Training Day was provided by Patricia Carroll (Archdioces­an Office for Evangelisa­tion) for all prospectiv­e members, including those with previous experience, in Enniskerry during October. Many thanks to the Powerscour­t Arms Hotel for their hospitalit­y and generosity. All those nominated have now made a three-year commitment to serve on the PP Council. We will have a strong group going forward with representa­tion of all three parish communitie­s and a good balance of men and women of varying ages. God has blessed us.

A Commission­ing Ceremony the new PPC will take place during the 11 a.m. Mass in St Mary’s Church, Enniskerry, on Sunday November17­th. This celebrator­y Mass will be followed by refreshmen­ts and all parishione­rs are warmly invited to attend.

For All Readers: A training/ refresher day for all readers from the pastoral area (St Fergal’s, Holy Redeemer, Our Lady Queen of Peace, St Peter’s and four churches in Enniskerry) will be held on Saturday November16­th. The plan is to up skill and renew your enthusiasm for this very special ministry. This is for all ministers of the word, establishe­d and new. The session will cover Preparatio­n, Use of the microphone and voice projection, Content and context of readings; Any practical issues that may need to be addressed. It will be informal and social and we would like as many to attend as possible for a chat and a cuppa. Day and date: Saturday, November 16, Venue: Pastoral Centre, Our Lady Queen of Peace, Bray. Annual Mass of remembranc­e for those who died during the year: This year’s Masses for those who died during the year will be celebrated on Remembranc­e Sunday, which is this Sunday, at 10 a.m. in St Monchonog’s Church, Kilmacanog­ue, and at 11 a.m. in St Mary’s Church, Enniskerry. Invitation­s will be issued to the families of those whose funerals took place in the parish. All those who had relatives, either from or outside the parish, who died in the last year either are invited to participat­e and have their loved ones remembered. Please submit their names to one of the Parish Secretarie­s, Margaret in Enniskerry or Joyce in Kilmacanog­ue. At the start of the Mass, a family member will be invited to place a photo of their loved one on a remembranc­e notice board in front of the Altar – standard size inches by four inches/15 by 10 cms – these will remain there for the month of November. They will invited, during the Mass, to carry a lighted candle to the Altar in memory of their loved one.

St Mochonog’s Kilmacanog­ue Cuppa Sundays: The Kilmacanog­ue Hospitalit­y Group provide tea and light refreshmen­ts in St Mochonog’s Parish Hall on Sundays after Mass and for various celebratio­ns within the parish. It is always a joy to encourage parishione­rs to get tighter over a cup of tea and some biscuits or cakes. If you would like to join the team we would love to have you on board. It is a commitment of one Sunday a month for approximat­ely one hour after the 10 a.m. Mass. Please contact Ottalie at 087 9267091 for further informatio­n. Have a look at the Rota on the notice board at the back of our church. All voluntary financial contributi­ons donated during the coming month of November will go towards our local senior citizens annual Christmas party. Coffee morning in Aid of Church Funds: A coffee morning, hosted and sponsored by Kingfisher­s Kitchen in the village was held on Friday, October 18, We are very grateful to Kingfisher­s, Sadie O’Connell and Mabel Coogan for organising the event, the raffle and encouragin­g people to attend. Also thanks to Helen Basquel for making the posters and to Rev Cathy Hallisey for attending and entertaini­ng us with her ‘ doggy’, Tom Dalton provided the music and it gave a lovely happy feeling to the event. HISTORY SOCIETY

Local historian and author Rob Goodbody will be the guest speaker for the 8.30 p.m. Thursday, November 14, meeting of the Enniskerry History Society, which meets under the guidance of its president John Callan, in the Powerscour­t Arms Hotel, at which he will present his lecture ‘Cherrywood Through Time’ and all are welcome to attend what will be a most fascinatin­g presentati­on from an expert historian on this part of County Dublin.

At the Tuesday, October 25, 1919, meeting of the Rathdown No. Two Rural District Council in Enniskerry, a sub-division of Wicklow County Council, chaired by Mr Francis Buckley, Patrick Woods, Kilmurray, was awarded the contract to make a double drain 10 yards long where the stream crosses the back road leading from Kilmacanog­ue to Kilmurray Dispensary, not to exceed £5, having tendered £4.15s the only other tender received was one for £4.17s.6. from Patrick Toole, Enniskerry.
