Art group gives to Glynn charity

-

MEMBERS of Greystones Art Group presented The Gavin Glynn Foundation with a cheque for €1,300. Each year the committee selects a ‘Charity of the Year’ and their main fundraising is done during their annual art exhibition.

‘We were absolutely delighted to present John Glynn, from The Gavin Glynn Foundation, with this cheque,’ said a spokesperson for the group.

‘ Thank you to everyone who contributed to this fundraising. We wish John and his wife Jayne every success in continuing Gavin’s legacy and with the incredible work they do for children and their families around Ireland while they battle cancer.’

Speaking at the cheque presentation John Glynn said: ‘ The Gavin Glynn Foundation currently receives no government funding and we vitally need funds that will go directly to helping the families and their kids.

‘It’s the generosity of groups like Greystones Art Group organising fundraisers that allows us to continue the work that we do.’

The Gavin Glynn Foundation believes that all children with cancer deserve the best care.

They assist and arrange travel logistics in order to help reduce the burden and stress for families who need to travel for cancer treatments. This enables the families to focus their time and energy on their child and family.

Some of the help and support the foundation wants to provide includes apartment rentals, car transfers, flights and more, for families traveling overseas for treatment. The art group is very active in the Greystones area. Members hold regular demonstrations, outings and exhibitions. They currently have a floral-themed exhibition under way in Greystones library for the month of November.
