Donations will be matched

- By EIMEAR DODD

Wicklow Hospice is appealing for donations in the run-up to Christmas to help it reach a festive fundraising target of €100,000.

The Hospice Foundation has been contacted by a donor, who wishes to remain anonymous. They have offered to match all donations made to this worthwhile cause in the run-up to Christmas only, up to the value of €100,000.

This means for every cent donated, this generous individual will match that amount.

Now, the Wicklow Hospice is hoping that individuals and businesses in the Garden County will come together and help them to reach a fundraising target of €100,000 before Christmas.

‘We have a donor who will match each and every donation that Wicklow Hospice receives, up to value of €100,000 until Christmas,’ a spokesperson for

Wicklow Hospice said.

‘ That means if you donate €100, the Hospice will receive €200.

‘If a business was to donate €1,000, it would cost them only €875 with tax relief, but the Hospice get €2,000. Please help us raise the €100,000 and it will mean Wicklow Hospice will receive another €100,000 from the donor.’

Any donation received, big or small, would be gratefully received.

To make a donation, visit www.wicklowhospice.ie and follow the ‘Donate’ instructions with the reference ‘Match’. Alternatively call 087 0954137 or 0402 91310. Donations can also be made by sending a cheque to Wicklow Hospice above Collins Pharmacy, Wentworth Villas, Wicklow Town.

Wicklow Hospice is expected to open its doors in early 2020. The facility will include 15 in-patient rooms and will be a hub for homecare county-wide.
