LOCAL DESIGNS AT RDS
A NUMBER of Wicklow designers will feature at Ireland’s largest collection of sustainable Christmas gifts featuring at the RDS, Dublin from December 4 to December 8.
Gifted, the Contemporary Craft and Design Fair, is an annual event held at the RDS Dublin every year to kick-start Christmas gifting season. It’s popular with anyone interested in craft, design, unique independent brands and artisan food producers and will attract an expected 45,000 visitors over five days.
Home to over 500 stands packed with original gifts, this year’s event will feature a unique Sustainable Pop-Up of 40 of Ireland’s finest eco-friendly brands and a Sustainable Edit, which will also feature painted tile maker Alanna Plekkenpol.
Alanna’s wall art designs are a playful and humorous take on traditional Dutch Delft Tiles. All products are designed and hand-finished by Alanna in her home studio in Bray.
Also featuring will be Kaiko Studio, run by Linda and Maciej who reside in Bray. Their background is in interior architecture and concrete construction and they create contemporary, earthy and industrial concrete home accessories, lighting and jewellery designed and handcrafted in Wicklow.
Also present will be Olanmore who specialise in chunky, natural wool. Anouk O’Connell and Frederique van Buuren have teamed up to introduce beautiful chunky merino roving products to the Irish market. The scenery surrounding their home in the Wicklow Mountains is their greatest inspiration.
‘At Gifted we celebrate Christmas giving with the country’s largest collection of thoughtful and sustainable gifts for your loved ones,’ said organiser Patrick O’Sullivan.
There will be 10 per cent off everything at Gifted on the opening day, Wednesday, December 4. The fair will run from 10 a.m. over all five days.
