Congrats to the three Lambert boys who together with their cousins, the Harper boys, combined to represent Derry Gaels in the Junior County Scór last Sunday in Avondale and emerged winners.

HOLLYWOOD

Thanks to everyone who came along to our awards night on Saturday in Tulfarris.

Our Division 5 team were receiving their medals for winning the South/West League and there following individual awards were presented also. Most Improved Player: Evan Burke, Young Player of the Year: Ryan Mulvey, Junior C Player of the Year: Dan Coyne, Junior A Player of the Year: Kevin Glennon, Senior Player of the Year: Shane Kelly. Congratula­tions to all the players and mentors.

Hollywood GAA Lotto Draw will be held this coming Wednesday night, November 27, in Tutty’s pub for a jackpot of €12,600. Tickets can be bought online at hollywoodg­aa.com or from the usual local outlets. Thanks for your continued support and good luck.

Hollywood GAA Lip Sync was launched on Saturday night in conjunctio­n with the awards night. Some of the contestant­s were introduced and they are all very enthusiast­ic about their participat­ion in the event, They will start their fundraisin­g soon and we hope you will all support them.

VALLEYMOUN­T

Our lotto draw was held at the weekend and there was no winner of the jackpot. The numbers were 5, 7, 13, and 19. The three €25 winners were Maia O’Brien, Edward Paton and Aoibhin Reid.

Hard luck to the Dunlavin Intermedia­tes who lost out to Mattock Rangers in the Leinster semi-final final over the weekend. Hard luck to the St. Kevin’s under-20’s who lost out to Blessingto­n in the semi-final over the weekend.

Our social night and Christmas Raffle will take place in Cullen’s Lakeview Lounge at 8pm on Saturday, December 14. Raffle tickets are available from the committee and all club members.

DUNLAVIN

Our Dunlavin team got to the semi-final of the Leinster championsh­ip but were sadly knocked out by a very strong Mattock Rangers at the weekend in Louth.

We would like to thank our local GAA clubs for all the well wishes throughout the competitio­n and the amazing supporters who took the long drives to many of our games throughout the year. The team appreciate­d it so much, we are so Lucky to have such a great community and support.

A massive thank you to our outstandin­g team of players who gave up so much time in what has turned out to be such a successful year. We are looking onwards and upwards to a senior season for 2020.

Dunlavin GAA Club have completed a new path and dugouts and look forward to hosting championsh­ip matches in the future. Our new fence is going in next week and are offering families a plaque 4in x 2in with the your name on it for €50 to be attached to the fence surroundin­g the pitch. BLESSINGTO­N

Under-20s – A terrific match which went from end to end whereby the result was that the lads beat St Kevin’s at home on Sunday in the under-20 ‘B’ championsh­ip semi-final.

At half-time Blessingto­n were trailing by a point 2-4 to 3-2. Following a great second-half Blessingto­n ran out winners. Full-time score: Blessingto­n 2-12, St Kevin’s 4-4. They now meet the winners of Clara Gaels or Rathnew. That match was postponed as the venue was unplayable. They went to the CCC on Monday to see what happens now. The final was scheduled to be played in Aughrim on Sunday, December 1. Watch out for informatio­n on the club Facebook page.

Girls presentati­on evening – Blessingto­n Community College was the venue for this year’s LGFA juvenile girls Awards Night on Thursday, November 21. Jess Brennan, Ladies Chairperso­n and MC was joined by four of our Senior ladies who presented medals and awards to over 200 girls.

Under 14 White Team - Most Dedicated Player-Katelyn Elliott. Most Improved Player- Holly Byrne. Player of the YearClara Keane.

Jess commented that our ladies section goes from strength to strength each year and our achievemen­ts continue to mount. The future looks very bright for blue and white!

Date for your Diary –Juvenile presentati­ons (under-10s to under-17s) will be held on Thursday, November 28, in the No 1 School at 7.30pm. Des Cahill will be presenting the awards on the night. Presentati­ons will take place on December 7 in St Kevin’s Hall for under-7s and under-9s at 6.45pm.

Tráth na gCeist/Table Quiz: By the time you read this Coolkenno juvenile club’s Annual Table Quiz fundraiser will be only days away! It all happens in The Crablane on Saturday night, November 30, throwing-in at 8.30pm. A table of four costs €40. Raffle prizes on the night also. Thank you to all who supported the Wicklow & District Lions Club Table Quiz in the Old Forge on Wednesday, November 20, in aid of the St Patricks boys and girls juvenile section at 8.30pm. An enjoyable evening was had by all.

LACKEN-KILBRIDE

On a very sad note, Shay Duffy, one of Kilbride’s legendary band of two-time Senior Champions passed away last Friday.

Shay was renowned as a very stylish footballer, who also represente­d the county and was heavily involved in management and coaching when he hung up his boots.

Shay will be remembered fondly by his neighbours in Oldcourt, friends, colleagues and everybody associated with the club. Condolence­s to the Duffy family, in particular, Shay’s wife, Eileen, son’s Aidan, Paul and daughter Jean and Shay’s brother Liam.

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam CLUB SOCIAL EVENT – AVON RI – The social night, organised by the ladies team and in particular Grainne Byrne and Aoife McGowan, was a great success. The organisers were overwhelme­d by the support received and would like to thank everyone who bought tickets or donated raffle prizes. All funds raised will be reinvested in the Ladies team for the 2021 season, where they hope to go one better…
