Junior Musicals choir members visit Leinster House

-

Junior Musicals paid a visit to Leinster House last week ahead of their forthcoming show at Mermaid Arts Show and fresh from victory at the Show Choir Ireland live finals.

They won best visual/stage production in the competition.

Students were welcomed to Leinster House last Wednesday by Deputy Stephen Donnelly. They also met Micheal Martin and delivered a singing performance during their visit.

‘We love being able to bring young people in to see where their parliament sits. It’s great for them to get a sense of the history and cultural importance of this place that we as TDs are privileged to work in. Who knows it may even spark an interest in politics that could see them serve their country one day,’ said Deputy Donnelly.

‘We were very lucky that Louise, who’s in charge of the musical group, had a couple of songs prepared and much to the delight of Dáil staff encouraged her choir to burst into song once the tour was over.

‘ They gave a particularly impressive performance of the operatic Funiculì, Funiculà just outside the Kildare Street gates which saw them waving handkerchiefs in the air drawing cheers and clapping from passers-by.’

Their Christmas production will take place at Mermaid Arts Centre in Bray on Sunday, December 8 at 1.30 p.m., 4.30 p.m. and 7.30 p.m.

The show will include excerpts from the musicals ‘Grease’ and ‘Joseph’, hip hop routines to the latest chart hits, choral singing by the Junior Musicals Theatre School choir, and the tots will do their Nativity play. The performances will include audience participation and a live band.

Tickets are €18 and for a family ticket it’s €65.
