Registration for the Wicklow 200 cycle opens this Friday
REGISTRATION opens this Friday, December 6, for the 39th Wicklow 200 cycling sportif, which returns on June 7 2020.
The cycle and its partner event the Wicklow 100 Challenge will begin in Bray and take in many of Wicklow’s most iconic climbs.
Starting and finishing at Bray Emmets GAA Club, the route takes the riders on climbs at the Wicklow Gap, Glenmalure, Slieve Maan and Shay Elliott and through Rathdrum, Baltinglass, Enniskerry, Laragh and other villages.
The organisers of the cycle, The Irish Veteran Cyclists Association (IVCA), have partnered with Elite
Event Management to grow the event and bring more people to the region for what has become an iconic cycle.
Michael Davis, Chairman of the IVCA said: ‘We are thrilled to bring back the Wicklow 200 cycle for its 39th year. The event is a highlight in the cycling calendar and always proves to be an exciting and exhilarating day for our participants and the organisers alike.’
Oliver Kirwan, Event Director with Elite Event Management added: ‘We are delighted to team up with the IVCA and we are really looking forward to working with them on the Wicklow 200. The cycle is on one of the most stunning routes I’ve ever encountered and has a great reputation amongst cycling enthusiasts both nationally and internationally.’
All participants will receive a customised medal, food and access to the Japanese hot tubs, while there will be plenty of entertainment to keep the after-party going all day and night.
Registration will open this Friday with a launch special price of €65 for both the Wicklow 200 and 100 routes, valid for a limited time only.
