Powerscourt Distillery launches its limited release single malt whiskey

-

THE Powerscourt Distillery last week launched Fercullen 18 year old Irish Whiskey, a limited release single malt.

Released by Master Distiller Noel Sweeney, Fercullen 18 year old single malt has been matured in bourbon barrels for over 18 years.

This release comes a year after the Fercullen range was first introduced with a collection of three premium whiskey expressions.

Taking its name from ‘FeraCulann’, the Gaelic name given to the ancient and strategically important lands that surround and encompass Powerscourt Estate, this location has long been regarded as a special place.

Set against the stunning backdrop of the great Sugarloaf Mountain and enjoying a long heritage of dedication and craftsmanship, Powerscourt is an inspiring location that has become one of Ireland’s most treasured estates.

After a launch in Powerscourt, the distillery went on to celebrate the launch at Whiskey Live in Dublin Castle last weekend and was at Taste Festive in the RDS from November 28 to December 1.

Fercullen 18 Year Old Single Malt Whiskey is available to purchase from The Celtic Whiskey Shop, L. Mulligans, Mitchell & Sons, James Fox, Redmonds in Ranelagh and at The Powercourt Distillery Visitor Centre gift shop and online frompowerscourtdistillery.com. The whiskey retails at €140.

The tasting notes, say the makers, ‘reveal oak and bourbon tones which marry to give plenty of depth and character while retaining exquisitely balanced flavours’.
