Brayteams winlatenight leaguefinals
THE Bray Late Night Leagues were held recently during the month of November in Loreto School by Bray Community Policing, KWETB (Sports Promotion Unit), FAI and Bray Wanderers.
Everyone who participated over the four week league in Bray held was given season tickets to Bray Wanderers forthcoming season and also match tickets to an Ireland international friendly in 2020. This was also the first year that an all-female team took part in the league. The winners went on to represent Bray at the finals of the Late Night Leagues in Dublin on December 6.
‘ The Late night Leagues are designed to encourage young people to participate in meaningful activities, thus reducing the risk of anti-social behaviour involving young people,’ said Sergeant John Fitzpatrick of Bray Garda Station.
The Leagues took place on the four Friday nights in November and have been a feature in Bray for the last three years, with free supervised football for all between 13 and 17 years of age with an emphasis on sportsmanship .
Both teams qualified for the Late Night League Finals Night in Irishtown Stadium, Dublin having won their respective age group competitions in Bray over the past number of weeks.
‘Both teams represented Bray with distinction and were a credit to their families and communities
‘I’d like pay special thanks to Garda John Thompson from Bray community Policing Team for bringing the different partners together to run the league and for being the driving force behind the Bray Late Night Leagues,’ said Sgt Fitzpatrick.
