Jingle Bell Rock in aid of homelessness

-

MUSICAL artists will take to the stage for a benefit concert this Friday, December 13, at The Anchor in Bray, entitled ‘Jingle Bell Rock’.

Doors to the night of music and entertainment open at 7 p.m. and admission is €12 on the door.

Acts on the night will include local heroes Robbie Doyle, White City and Si, as well as Dublin’s hottest new up and comers Stolen City and Altered Lines and all the way from LA award winning songwriter and producer Mr Austin Sexton.

This is the re-launch of Jingle Bell Rock, which was founded in 2011 by Dean Earls, Lee Taylor and Anthony Gunning. Shane Moloney is now on board as part of Gold Minds Group Inc’s ‘Gold Minds Gives Back’ programme.

Their aim is to raise awareness around the current homeless and housing crisis in Ireland.

The night will include phenomenal music, give-aways and more, with proceeds going toward supplies for Bray’s local homeless community and local homeless support group Bray Area Rough Sleepers Support (BARSS).

The night will be hosted by the very talented Reuban James a man who knows how to get a party started.

A huge number of prizes have been donated to the raffle by local businesses and individuals.

Prizes include art, vouchers, cakes, gym membership and much more.

The inaugural Jingle Bell Rock started out as an idea for local bands to record a Christmas album raising funds for a music programme for Seomra Youth Centre.

Time was limited and the idea evolved into a night of music, bringing many local bands together to play a one-night show instead.

The night was a huge success, raising just under €2,000 for Seomra Youth Centre.

Over 12 acts played that night and on that occasion also, a large number of prizes was donate, including boxing gloves signed by Katie Taylor.

Fast forward to 2019 and the founding members along with new member Shane Moloney, the Gold Minds Group’s initiative Gold Minds Give back and a host of other great individuals are bringing Jingle Bell Rock back.

With the current housing crisis in Ireland and homelessness on the rise, Jingle Bell Rock’s mission is to use music as a platform to raise awareness nationwide and beyond about these issues close to their hearts.

They want to bring people together through the arts who can incite change and speed up the process of reform in these areas that are lacking sufficient attention.

Ultimately their goal is to help eradicate homelessness in Ireland and do their part to fix the housing crisis. Starting small this year, their goal is to branch out to a bigger stage next year and have an annual event bringing both established and emerging talent together to put on a night of music raising both awareness and funds for the homeless crisis in Ireland.
