Holy Rosary carols for all

There will be carols for all at Holy Rosary Church on Thursday, December 19.

The event will take place at 8 p.m. and will include mulled wine and mince pies.

Canadh le Chéile

The Greystones Cancer Support choir Canadh le Chéile will sing at SuperValu in Greystones on Sunday, December 15.

The choir will sing from 2.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. and anyone who wants to is welcome to join in. Bucket helpers are also welcome.

Soupa nd Sandwiches

Greystones Cancer Support sends a very big thank you to Holy Rosary Soup and Sandwiches.

The team very donated

€1,000 to GCS from this year’s lunches.

The ladies cook and serve beautiful homemade soup, sandwiches and cakes, on the last Wednesday of each month, at Kilian House Family Centre, from 12.15 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Mincepie morning

Greystones Cancer Support’s annual mince pie morning will be held on Friday, January 3, 2020.

The event will take place at the centre from 10.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.

Filmabout bereavemen­t

The Good Grief Project – A Love That Never dies, will be screened at Whale Theatre on January 29. 2020.

The evening will be hosted by bereavemen­t counsellor Liz Gleeson.

The film will be followed by a question and answer session with directors Jane and Jimmy Edmonds.

Christmas Chorus

Newtownmou­ntkennedy Male Voice Choir and DoMiSo Community Choir will perform a beautiful evening of song in Christ Church Delgany on Sunday, December 15, at 7.30 p.m.

The charities being supported are Greystones Cancer Support, Jack and Jill Foundation and St Catherine’s Associatio­n.

The evening will include refreshmen­ts. Tickets are €5 at the door.

Dementia Support

Wicklow Dementia Support holds a number of events in the Greystones area.

‘Musical memories’ takes place each Friday morning at St Patrick’s Church Hall from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

There are often visiting musicians and usually a turnout of around 30 people, including people with dementia, their family carers and volunteers.

A family carers support group meets on the third Friday of each month, also at St Patrick’s, from 11.30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

This is a facilitato­r-led, peerto-peer support group.

Men’sShed Greystones

Men’s Shed Greystones is open Wednesdays and Fridays at 10 a.m. and welcomes new members.

Anyone interested can call into the scout den on Church Road on Wednesday mornings.

Alzheimer Café

The Alzheimer Café is facilitate­d by the HSE/St Columcille’s Hospital and primary care nurses.

It meets at the Glenview Hotel on the last Thursday of each month, from 2.30 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Badminton

Bray-Greystones badminton club welcomes new players every Thursday night at 8 p.m. in BIFE, Novara Road, Bray.

Family badminton takes place every Sunday from 4 p.m. till 6 p.m. Adults and children are welcome.

Storytime

Children’s story time takes place at 10.30 a.m. on Wednesday mornings at Greystones Library.

The session is suitable for babies up to children aged six years.

No booking is required for the event.

HolyRosary choir

The parish choir sings at 6 p.m. Mass in the Holy Rosary Church on the first and third Saturday of the month. For more informatio­n, call 085 8801466.

Policingcl­inic inKilcoole

Kilcoole policing clinic takes place each Wednesday evening at Kilcoole Community Centre, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Garda Corbett and/or Garda Thompson will be in attendance. Drop in for crime prevention advice, get a form stamped and obtain most other garda station services.

Language groups

A German conversati­on group meets each week in Greystones.

The group meets at the library on Saturday mornings at 11 a.m.

A French conversati­onal group meets on Thursday mornings, also at the library, at 11 a.m.

Dancing evening

There is social dancing to live music every Sunday night in Greystones.

The event starts each week at 8.30 p.m. in the Rugby Club.

Exercisefo­r over-50s

Exercise programmes for the over-50s take place each Wednesday at Shoreline Leisure at 12.30 p.m.

The sessions help with flexibilit­y, strength, confidence, balance, coordinati­on and mobility.

Admission is €5 per session.

Scoutleade­rs

Greystones Scouts are now recruiting new leaders for first Wicklow, second Dublin, St Kilian’s Scout Group. Training will be provided. For more informatio­n, email group leader Anthony Finnegan at greystones­scouts@eircom.net.

Country market

North Wicklow Country Market takes place each Saturday morning at Newcastle Community Centre.

The market takes place from 10.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.

Artgroup

Greystones Art Group has a variety of events throughout the month. Each Monday they meet to paint, sketch, create and share inspiratio­n.

A new location is selected monthly for outdoor sketching and painting.

There are also monthly talks and demonstrat­ions by guest artists.

The talks include techniques and suggestion­s relating to medium, compositio­n, colour mixing and brushwork in a fun and friendly environmen­t.

There is a small fee of €5 for non-members.

Activereti­red

Greystones Active Retirement Associatio­n, based out of Kilian House, holds keep fit classes from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. and art from 2.15 p.m. to 4.15 p.m. on Mondays.

It also holds aqua aerobics in the Shoreline from midday to 1 p.m. On Tuesdays, there is bowling from 10.45 a.m. to 12.45 p.m., followed by bingo from 2.15 p.m. to 4.15 p.m.

On Thursdays there’s more bowling from 2.30 p.m. to 4.30 p.m.

Greystones Active Retirement Associatio­n also holds a coffee morning from 10.30 a.m. to midday on the last Friday of each month.

The booking office is open at Kilian House Family Centre each Tuesday from 10.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m.

Carolservi­ce

On Wednesday, December 11, at 7 p.m., Delgany Community Council and Delgany Tidy Towns will be hosting the annual Delgany Village Christmas carol service.

After the carols there will be mulled wine, mince pies and treats.

There will be a collection on the night of non-perishable goods for the local St Vincent de Paul.

The meeting point is outside Delgany Mart and everyone is welcome.

Christmas market

The boat yard Christmas market is open for weekends during December. It opened on Saturday, November 30, and will continue on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the month from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Santa will be there on Sundays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., with entry of €10 per child to include a gift bag.

The market is run in conjunctio­n with Greystones Tidy Towns and all proceeds will go towards a sensory garden at Burnaby Park.
