Newtown Tidy Towns hold AGM
THE NEWTOWNMOUNTKENNEDY and District Tidy Towns group recently held its AGM and a new committee and chairperson were duly elected.
Paul Kavanagh handed over the chair to Siobhan O’Hanlon, who is already proving to be an able administrator and a worthy successor.
Paul has given nearly 20 years of commitment to his community in his role as chairperson, and has overseen many improvements to the town and its environs over those years. As Vice Chairperson, he is still very much involved in the Tidy Towns projects and is currently liaising with Wicklow County Council on the improvements now being made to the town under the new Town and Village Renewal Scheme.
Everyone involved with Newtownmountkennedy and District Tidy Towns have expressed their thanks and gratitude to Paul for his continuing work on behalf of this community.
The group would also like to pay tribute to Michael Purcell, its former, and very popular, chairman who passed away this week.
Newly elected Chairperson Siobhan O’Hanlon, originally a resident of Greystones, is now an enthusiastic and committed Newtownmountkennedy resident, and is leading the Tidy Towns organisation onwards and upwards as it pursues its latest goals.
She will be assisted by the newly elected committee members, as follows: Paul Kavanagh, Vice Chairperson; Anna Kalinina, Secretary; Annick Bishop, Asst. Secretary; Marie O’Neill, Treasurer; Anne Martin, Asst. Treasurer.
The Newtownmountkennedy Tidy Towns 2020 calendar is now on sale in Eugene’s Grocery Store, the new Kava Cafe and at the local Post Office.
