ARKLOW U-15S NEW ROSS U-15S 69 5

ARKLOW U-15s hosted New Ross at the Oval on Saturday in the Leinster League, these two sides had already met each other three times this season so they were well acquainted by now.

Arklow kicked off and started to put pressure on New Ross straight away resulting in turning over the ball, Arklow started to attack New Ross and were looking dangerous with ball in hand.

After several waves of attacks Conor Healy found some space and crossed the line for Arklow’s first try.

Arklow’s spirit was high now and from the restart started to attack again and with some lovely back play Gordon Prestage crossed for Arklow’s second try.

By now Arklow started to take control of the game releasing their backs who were creating space every time they got their hands on the ball, this resulted in two more tries by Charlie Graham and Jack Breen.

New Ross gathered themselves together and started to compete Arklow’s rucks and turning over the ball, with some great team work started to punch holes in Arklow’s defence resulting in a well deserved try of their own before half-time.

The second half started with Arklow receiving the ball and they went on full attack for the New Ross line, after relentless pressure Josh Robinson forced himself over the line for the first try of the second half.

Arklow took total control of the game now, putting pressure on New Ross and capitalising on every mistake.

With some great carries by the forwards and the backs looking sharp and dangerous every time they got ball in hand, which resulted in six more tries from Gordon Prestage, Conor Healy (three), Ernest Kaukis (two)

This was a win that resulted from the hard work the whole squad put in during the week at training, they know they will have to work extra hard to improve on their rucking before they take on Gorey in the semi-final of the southeast plate next Saturday.

Final score: Arklow 69, New Ross 5.
