Super evening of boxing in store in Arklow

-

ARKLOW’S annual sponsored tournament takes place in Arklow Boxing Club, Emoclew Road this Saturday night, December 14.

Eighteen contests have been matched which includes Arklow’s up and coming female boxers with the opposition being supplied by Crumlin Boxing Club and also three boxers from Sligo.

The door opens at 5 p.m. with first bout in the ring at 6 p.m. Admission is €10 for dults and U-16 €5.

It’s been a very busy week for the club with six boxers taking part in the Wicklow Wexford inter-county.

Two of our female boxers, Amber Byrne and Tegan Farrell, had to settle for silver in Guildford, England, both beaten by English opponents who were very aggressive and putting our girls under constant pressure.

Amber and Tegan gave it their best and it will be a good learning experience. for them.

In other news Kai Davis had great success in the prestigious LDS Box Cup in Kildare at the weekend, which is an international tournament.

Kai won two contests to become champion taking the fight to both opponents with some good technical skills and good combinations. Kai is definitely one to look out for in the future.

And in more good news Arklow’s most senior boxer and club Coach Sean Allen travelled to Boston to box for The Irish Gardai in competition against The Boston Police Department.

The good news is Sean not only won his contest but was also awarded best boxer.

Sean is currently putting his experience into the club as one of the underage coaches. So what a busy weekend,inter-county in club, girls in Guildford, Kai in Kildare, Sean in Boston.

Arklow boxing club is going places. The club going from strength to strength.
