BALLYMANUS

It certainly wasn’t a day for football on Saturday last when we took on a very youthful An Tochar side in the Gap in the opening 2020 league fixture in which we were beaten 1-4 to 0-3.

There wasn’t much between the sides throughout and the weather prevented any sort of fancy football.

An Tochar led 1-0 to 0-2 at the break and pulled away in the closing stages as tired legs too their toll.

Next up is Donard in the Gap this weekend. There was no lotto jackpot winner from numbers 6, 10, 22, and 28 last week with Gossey Moules the only match-three winner.

BALTINGLASS

Lotto numbers were: 3, 8, 12, and 26. No winner. Match-three winners for €75 each: Liam Moore c/o seller promoter M. Coleman; Tom Coleman c/o seller promoter M. Coleman; Rose Loonan c/o seller promoter B. Coffey; Kealan and Eve Kehoe, promoter M. Kehoe.

This week’s jackpot is €6,200. The draw took place on Monday, March 2, in Timmins Bar. Thanks for supporting the club lotto. You can play online.

Registration weekend takes place in the clubhouse on Friday, March 13, from 6-9pm and Saturday, March 14, from 10am - 1pm.

Membership must be paid by all our players (juveniles and adults) for player insurance purposes.

You can also pay your membership on the clubforce website.

Congratulations to Martin Coleman who was elected as the Leinster Representative on Central Council Management at the recent annual congress.

The under-11 boys start back training Monday evenings at the Astro pitch 7-8pm. New members are welcome.

The Senior men lost by one point to Tinahely in the second round of the Division 1 league at home.

Sincere sympathies to the Hayden family on the passing of Pat Hayden. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

ST PATRICK’S

Another week met with another storm caused more disruption to some of the scheduled matches that were set to happen at the weekend.

Although, our Senior men had the narrowest of wins over Avondale winning 0-10 to 2-5 away in Ballinakill.

It was Friday night football in very wet conditions, our lads were trailing at halftime but they showed how difficult it is for other teams to beat them as they pulled back they did enough to get a one-point victory.

Midfielder Matthew Traynor really stood up in the closing stages taking control of his part of the pitch.

Shane Murley worked his way up the park kicking a couple of long dangerous balls into the square to danger man and captain Tommy Kelly before he was fouled and awarded a penalty which was slotted away by Stephen Duffy in what proved to be a vital goal in the match. That’s two wins from two in the league as their focus now turns to Sunday’s game at home against AGB in a repeat of the 2019 championship final.

Our Junior A’s will begin their campaign away to Aughrim on Saturday, March 7.

Dean Healy, Paddy O’Keane, Wayne Doyle and Niall Donnelly all flew over to London with the county footballers as they got a relatively comfortable 2-10 to 5-9 victory. Well done to all the lads involved especially our four clubmen.

Unfortunately, the outcome of Wicklow Seniors hurlers wasn’t the same as they suffered a 4-29 to 2-14 versus a strong Offaly side. Hard luck to all the team especially our two clubmen Andy and George O’Brien.

We invite all footballers born in 2003/04 to come and train with the under-17s for the season. All players are advised to bring gum shields gloves and water. Please contact John Smith on 086 8130477 for any more details.

Club Membership is now due On Monday, February 24, our club lotto took place, this week’s numbers: 4, 10, 12, and 24 and the bonus number was 21. There was no match-five jackpot winner this week. There was no winner of our match-four jackpot which was for €5,600. There were two winners of the match-three jackpot, congratulations to Dessie and Veronica Flaherty and John Sexton.

Everyone at St Patrick’s GAA Club would like to extend our sincere condolences to the family of Edward Kelly (Ocean View, Wicklow Town) who passed away peacefully on February 27, at St. Vincent’s University Hospital, Dublin.

Loving father of the late Jonathan. Sadly missed by his loving wife Breda, sons Eddie, David and Philip, daughters Amanda and Catherina, brothers Johnny and Michael, sister Ann, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, relatives and friends. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

Please send any information for club notes to PRO.stpatricks.wicklow@gaa. ie before 9pm on Sunday evenings. You can contact St Pats on Facebook at St Patrick’s GAA Club Wicklow Town or on twitter @StPatsGAAWick.
