CARNEW EMMETS

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Given the recent national outbreak of Covid-19, the club feel it is a very important time to act together as a community.

We would like to offer the services of our club members to assist the elderly, vulnerable or anybody who needs help throughout this time.

We have over 50 adult players who are keen to help with deliveries of any sort, or anything whatsoever that may be needed as this situation develops.

It is a very challengin­g time for many in communitie­s all over the country and we appreciate that the smallest things may be of benefit. Please do not feel like you are alone.

Feel free to get in contact with any club member, contact us through our Facebook page or contact Michael Rock directly on 087 6425162 for anything that we can help with.

ANNACURRA

As a result of Covid-19, all games and training have been suspended for all grades in the club. In addition the gym is also closed.

We will keep players and members informed as the situation changes.

We hope everyone stays safe during this difficult period.

RATHNEW

‘Rathnew Gaa 1885’ is the club’s one and only official Facebook page. Any other page with our name has nothing to do with our club and is run by someone with also nothing to do with our club. Please dislike any other page with our name thanks.

All club jerseys and any other gear are now on sale on the Rathnew shop on the O’Neill’s website or just follow the link on our Facebook page.

We have also got in club bobble hats for sale which can be seen on our Facebook page. They are €15 each and can be ordered by giving Hazel a text on 086 0592935.

We had no winner of the lotto jackpot on Monday, March 9. Numbers were: 4, 19, 26, and 28.

There were three match-threes: Veronica Doyle c/o Lar Ellis, Mandy Quinn c/o Doyle’s, Caroline Kelly c/o Kevin Gill. At the time of writing the jackpot stands at €15,500.

The 2020 Kellogg’s GAA Cúl Camp dates have been released with Rathnew pencilled in for August 10 to 14. Go online to the Cúl Camp website to book early.

With the club on lockdown for the near future we hope everyone stays safe and well and we all get through this difficult time.

BLESSINGTO­N

Due to the COVID-19 Blessingto­n GAA has now ceased all activities until March

29. No matches, use of gym, training is allowed.

Blessingto­n GAA have put a team of volunteers together led by our senior men’s and ladies’ teams to help our community at this uncertain time.

Under-12 Ladies – March 10. What a super game for our under-12 girls blue team against Rathnew in Rathnew especially in the second half when we started to hit our mojo.

The girls listened at half-time and it proved to pay off. Every girl put their heart and soul into it. We couldn’t be prouder as coaches still loads to work on in training but a good start to the league. Katie Behan was the POTM, she was outstandin­g. Final score line: 4-7 to 3-3.

Lotto - No winner of the lotto on March

Considerin­g the current situation, our lotto draw that was due to take place on Tuesday, March 24, will now take place on Sunday, March 29, and the jackpot will be €2,600.

GLENEALY

In light of the current situation Glenealy Hurling Club have decided to pull together and offer our services to anyone in need, elderly, vulnerable etc.

Myself and Mary Weir will be on hand day or night to take a call from anyone in need of anything. We will act as your port of contact and we have numerous committee members and players available to help you in anyway we can.

So if you are in need of having for example shopping, fuel or prescripti­ons picked up, please do not hesitate to call us. By working together we will get through this testing time.

VALLEYMOUN­T

Our lotto draw was held at the weekend and there was no winner of the jackpot. The numbers were: 8, 17, 20, and 28. The three €25 winners were Mary Fisher, Dermot Farrell and Hannah Miley.

The next lotto draw will be held in the clubhouse on Saturday, March 28, with a new jackpot of €9,900. Tickets are €2 and available from all members.

The Division 2 league began on March 8 at home against Kilmacanog­ue. There was a great crowd there to support the team and we won our first match 1-15 to 1-12.

All fixtures for Division 2 and Division 5 are available on our website. Well done to the ladies played Bray away on Saturday, March 7, and came home with a draw.

All GAA games and activities are suspended for the time being so keep an eye on the fixtures in paper and our social media pages for new match times.

The Kellogg’s Cul Camps 2020 are now recruiting for head coaches over the age of 18 and assistant coaches over the age of 16.

If you are interested please fill out the online form. The Valleymoun­t camp will take place from June 29 to July 3.

All who need to use the field for either training or matches MUST book the pitch with Liam Kavanagh.

NEWTOWN

Club weekly lotto draw takes place each monday at 8.30pm in Community Centre. The jackpot is now €5,400.

Newtown ladies have defeated Carnew Emmets in their Wicklow LGFA Division 3 Cup game played in Newtown on Wednesday evening by 4-11 to 6-2.

Well done to Newtown’s under-14 girls on a fantastic win in there first league game this week against Rathnew, very promising young team, the future looks bright in Black and White. The final score was 9-7 to 5-8.

Newtown GAA have been selected to partake in the *Gaelic for Girls Initiative* which will commence on Saturday, March 14, at 10am at Newtown GAA pitch and run for an eight-week duration.

The G4G program is open to all girls between the ages of 8-12 yrs who are not currently playing Gaelic football or a member of a club.

All participan­ts will receive a G4G jersey and will participat­e in a bliz at the end of the eight weeks with other clubs.

Registrati­on forms have been handed out in the local schools and anyone wishing to find out more informatio­n can contact Margaret Synnott of Newtown LGFA. Looking foward to seeing lots of new faces for a fun and enjoyable experience.

LARAGH

In light of the current COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent government guidelines Laragh GAA Club would like to help anyone in our village (especially the elderly, vulnerable or self isolating.

Our players and members are available to collect from the shop and drop it to your doorstep with minimal contact. We are also willing to help with anything else that’s required.

Everyone is not on social media, so please share this with friends, neighbours etc.

ST PATRICK’S

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak sporting events have been thrown into disarray.

Our main concern is that all our members stay safe during this tough time.

We at St Patrick’s GAA have put a team of volunteers together led by Alan Lawlor and Eugene Dooley to help our community (vulnerable, self-isolating and especially our elderly) at this uncertain time.

If you know of anybody in need of assistance with shopping, picking up prescripti­ons or anything you can think of, please don’t hesitate to contact Alan 086 2784498 or Eugene 087 2953633 for assistance providing complete respect and full confidenti­ality and we will aim too gladly help in any way that we can.

Our weekly lotto took place last Monday, March 9. The winning numbers were as follows 9, 15, 18 and 22, with the bonus number being 11. We had no winners in any of the draws.

We urge all our members to look after themselves and stay safe during this difficult period.

We cannot stress enough if anybody needs helps or assistance please don’t hesitate to ask as we must stick together and help everyone in the community. Stay safe.
