THE SHOW GOES ONLINE
THE Arklow Visual Arts Gallery may be closed, but art lovers will soon have the chance to view and admire works from its most recent exhibition online.
New paintings by Andrew, Attracta and Sarah Eva Manson are being uploaded to Ballyrogan.com where they will be fully accessible for visitors to the site to enjoy. Each artist uses different techniques and styles, but there is a common focus in these paintings on the natural world.
The series ‘Nature and Nuture’ by Attracta Manson explores climate change, the presence of viruses in nature and the human population and the fragility of urban living. The paintings consider the impact of humans on nature and vice-versa.
Some of the new paintings on display by Andrew Manson were inspired by spending time at the Back Lane in Arklow over the space of a year to observe how the space changed. His work focuses on the light, especially the effect of light at dawn, dusk or the golden hour.
Sarah Eva Manson’s latest project focuses on the possibilities of the night sky. In her artist statement, she describes how it manifested itself after she was prescribed alone time in the studio to deal with postpartum depression.
‘I have to make time for myself in the studio. With its huge south-facing window looking onto Ballymoyle Hill, the night sky truly is so beautiful. Some people see darkness, but I see energy, exploration and never-ending possibilities,’ she said.
While all exhibitions at Arklow Visual Arts Gallery are suspended for the foreseeable future, works by Ballyrogan.com can be viewed at www. ballyrogan.com. Private viewings can also be arranged by appointment.
