WICKLOW County Council and the County Wicklow Chambers of Commerce have signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen relationships between both bodies for the benefit of the Garden county. The memorandum was signed before last Monday’s Wicklow County Council meeting, with all the heads of Wicklow’s various chambers of commerce in attendance.
Wicklow County Council Cathaoirleach,Pat Casey, said the document would allow the council and chambers to work alongside one another for the betterment of Wicklow.
Focus will also be placed on the further development of the Clermont Campus in Rathnew, while Cllr Casey said, with the likes of Ballyhenry Studios and Ardmore, ‘ There is no reason why Wicklow can’t become the hub of movies in Europe.’
County Manager Eddie Sheehy, welcomed the signing of the memorandum of understanding, commenting ‘as a nation we are going through a difficult time and must remain positive. We need to keep confidence and continue advancing Wicklow at every possible stage.’
Roy Conway, president of the County Wicklow Chamber of Commerce, voiced how important it was for both the council and the chamber to work alongside one another in order to achieve common goals.
‘ This is not a legal agreement, really it is a declaration of our intention to get the best for Wicklow. The focus is on building relationships. It means we are telling the world we are working together to make Wicklow a better place.’ Wicklow Town Council already signed up to a similar memorandum of understanding with Wicklow and District Chamber.
