Peter’s 6,000 Steps a Day Challenge

-

Local Quill Road resident and the legend himself Peter Lawlor is doing a daily 6km walk with a difference during this Covid-19 crisis.

Peter is now 48 years of age and has been attending Open Door on the Vevay Road in Bray since 1991. He attends the centre every Wednesday and Friday and enjoy the activities.

Peter is now one of the oldest people in Ireland with a condition called Prader Willi Syndrome (PWS).

The physiotherapy helps him greatly with his physical health and he really enjoys the Ceramics with Mark and the gang. Peter loves making presents for his family and friends and he has made so many friends in the centre and loves to chat with the staff, volunteers, and other members and is really look forward to getting back there.

At the moment, Peter is obviously cocooning at home since the outset of Covid-19 in Ireland and his parents are encouraging him to walk in order to maintain and improve muscle tone and balance and to prevent muscle wastage. He is missing his friends and outings so he has decided to do something new.

His parents and family are amazed at his improvement through his daily walking and so, Peter has decided to turn it all into a positive situation and has set up a fundraiser for Open Door to help fund the activities when the centre re-opens. He is doing 6,000 steps per day which is a huge commitment for him and takes a lot of effort.

Peter hopes that you might consider to sponsor him or donate to Open Door to send him a message so he knows that you are behind him all the way. You can donate at the following link; idonate.ie/fundraiser/11385193_ peterlawlor-s-page.html. Good man Peter, you are some inspiration to us all. (As of the weekend, Peter has raised over €5,000)
