In It Together initiatives with Wicklow County Council
A host of new initiatives are helping people in Wicklow to stay connected, stay active, and look after their mental well-being during the Covid-19 Emergency, as part of the #InThisTogether campaign.
The government campaign is encouraging people to take up a new activity which could help them feel better and healthier.
‘It is heartening to see the number of local organisations, artists, musicians and sports-people getting involved to help their communities through the Covid-19 emergency, proving we truly are in this together,’ said Minister Simon Harris.
As part of the initiative, chef Catherine Fulvio teamed up with Wicklow County Council to judge a creative baking competition as part of this year’s virtual Cruinniú na nÓg. Wicklow County Council took part in the ‘Be Active Hour’ which encouraged people to pick an activity from the local sports network
The council set a new initiative to create a ‘People’s Archive’ to capture and share photos, stories and experiences of Wicklow life 2020, encouraging everyone to record their experiences and to contribute to the project.
‘Nature on your Doorstep’ for National Biodiversity Week invites children to draw or paint a picture of what they are seeing.
‘Let’s Keep Wicklow Talking’ is focussed on reducing feelings of loneliness and isolation, and encouraging neighbours and locals to keep in touch and check on those who are alone. There is a selection of regular videos, ideas, and activities. ‘ The information will be available on gov.ie/Together, on TV, radio and newspapers,’ said Minister Harris.
