Arklow Further Education and Training Centre offers a range of further education opportunit­ies

THE programmes of Arklow Further Education and Training Centre offer a range of local further education and training opportunit­ies for the people of Arklow town and its environs. Run by KWETB the aim is to provide participan­ts with relevant skills and knowledge to progress onto further education or into employment.

Arklow Youthreach is an educationa­l training and work experience programme for early school leavers that aims to equip young people aged 16-20 with the skills and confidence necessary for them to progress to further education or take up employment, by improving their personal skills, through QQI Level 3 and level 4 programmes.

The BTEI programme focus on the developmen­t of employable skills with a selection of flexible part-time courses at QQI Level 4 and Level 5. The BTEI courses enable participan­ts to balance education with work and life commitment­s – and tuition is completely free for early school leavers over the age of 16, those in receipt of social welfare payments, or holders of a full medical card.

For those over 21, the VTOS programme is the next step on a journey to employment. These free, practical, and person-focused QQI Level 4 and Level 5 courses are designed to prepare participan­ts for work in a number of roles that are in-demand and market-driven. VTOS is the ideal training path for anyone wishing to upskill or reskill for a new job or to enter the workforce for the first time or following redundancy.

Adult Basic Education Service offers part-time tuition to adults who want to Return to education, Up-skill or re-skill for work, Brush up on basic skills such as reading, writing, maths and IT, whilst gaining confidence and working towards a recognised certificat­e. Pitched at early school leavers or those out of education for a number of years the ABE Service is the ideal pathway back to education or employment.
