SCFE’s reputation as a small college with a big heart is based on our commitment to supporting wellbeing and promoting academic success for all of our students. Our Team of dedicated Guidance Counsellors and qualified teachers ensure that every student has the support they need to achieve their ambition. And at SCFE we are ambitious! In addition to providing programmes leading to QQI Level 5 and 6 awards, SCFE ensures that our qualifications are relevant and sought after by industry professionals. All of our Fitness Instruction and Personal Training courses are REPS Ireland accredited and Personal Trainer Yoga and Pilates Teacher courses lead to internationally recognised ITEC certification. Our Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy courses are also ITEC accredited while students on our QQI Level 5 Performing Arts course can also achieve the Diploma of Associate (Acting Performance) accredited by the Irish Board of Speech and Drama. Relevant qualifications coupled with our links with employers ensure that our graduates are uniquely positioned for employment in their chosen sector.
SCFE students can travel a bit further in career development and study best International practice in their career area. Early Childhood Education and Travel and Tourism students now have the opportunity to travel to Norway or Spain to complete a work placement that is fully funded through the Erasmus+ scheme.
Many SCFE students chose to use their QQI Level 5 and 6 qualifications to gain entry to
University and Institutes of Technology, with this in mind SCFE has developed strong links with third level colleges and clear progression pathways. Many SCFE graduates who came from Leaving Certificate or as Mature Learners agree that completing a the QQI Level 5 or 6 at SCFE course has given them an excellent foundation in their chosen field and prepared them for the rigorous of studying for a degree. This was also reflected in the findings of a recent ERSI research study which reported that students progressing form a PLC college were less likely to drop out of degree courses.
