Tullow

CATTLE REPORT - JUNE 19: Trade fully maintained today in Tullow with a very strong demand around the ring and online for the quality stores especially those 350kg to 500kg continental stores both bullocks and heifers.

We saw a very strong demand for the forward beef cattle with FR and plainer bullocks sold from €400 with the kg and the good smart continentals up to a tops of €950 with the kg but overall a very strong demand for all the cattle in this class.

Brisk trade and plenty of farmers custom around the ring lightest 350kg plus HE and AA sold from €190 upwards and the continentals sold from €2.10 up to €2.55 with some exceptional types pushing up close to €3 per kg.

A very lively trade for beef heifers with plenty of butcher and feeder business custom for the in-spec quality assured hfrs and they sold from a tops one specific hfr 610kg made €1550 while we saw the store hfrs with lots of farmer custom around the ring HE and AA from €1.90 upwards and the good continentals sold from €2.15 up to €2.50 for the majority with some exceptional lots breaking up near to €3.

We had a small entry of calves. FR calves sold from €30 to €80 per head with some lighter HE and AA sold from €100 up to €210 for the stronger bull type.

Plenty of custom for cull cows and Id call them possibly dearer by €20 or €30 we had seen on a fortnight ago with continental FR cows freshly out of the parlour sold from €100 with the kg up to €350 with the kg and the continentals sold from €300 with the kg for the younger feeder types up to €700 with the kg for the heavier type cows.

Overall a good clearance today in Tullow trade fully maintained on last weeks prices which is good to report and a lot of online activity amongst the ring bidding.

Just to remind everyone we have an E & U grade sale Friday 3rd July to include E & U grade Weanlings.
