MORE BUISNESSES OPEN THEIR DOORS

- By MARY FOGARTY

LAUREN O’Sullivan of Dockyard No 8 at the harbour in Bray said that the team will make every effort for people to be able to relax and enjoy their meal, while observing all of the safety standards as they re-open.

‘We’ve taken out some of the tables so there will be social distancing,’ said Lauren.

People will be shown in and out and the staff will have more working space also.

‘Otherwise it’s business as usual,’ said Lauren. ‘We really want to keep going and move on.

‘We’ll ensure people move in and out of the building safely,’ she said. ‘We’re all drilled on how to manage the guidelines and the staff are so eager to get back going. We want to make it as easy as possible for people to come in and enjoy themselves without having to worry.’

She said that staff will talk people through how things operate under the new guidelines. ‘We’re there to help if people have any questions and suggestions.’

Dockyard has been operating as a takeaway, and Lauren said they are very grateful to all their customers.

‘We’ll be asking people to be mindful of one another.’ Things to consider are not queuing for the toilet, or coming up to the till.

There’s plenty of signage and hand sanitiser. ‘I’ll be camped out at the door the first few weeks,’ said Lauren.

She said that the team adapted to the takeaway model quickly, and will adapt again to this. ‘It was a challenge and the staff were incredible,’ she said.

‘I really missed having people come in. It’s a very sociable place and we all want to be back to working with the people here.’

They will be making use of the upstairs space and of course dogs are welcome back to the front section as before.
