Man is accused of sexual assault
A MAN in his 60s appeared in Bray District Court last Thursday in connection with historic charges of sexual assault of a minor, dating back to the late 70s.
There were four charges before the court, all of a similar nature, alleged to have occurred in the north Wicklow area.
The court heard that a warrant for the man’s arrest was executed that day, on foot of instructions by the DPP.
The defendant replied ‘guilty’ following each caution, as the charges were presented to him by gardai, the court heard.
While there was no application for bail, the man is currently serving a sentence in Midlands Prison, with some years remaining.
The matter was adjourned to September 10 for the production of a book of evidence.
