Services of Worship for this Sunday: The church remains closed till further notice. There is no Worship Service in the church building but it will be streamed online. Check the church’s website for details and further updates. While churches and houses of worship re-opened last Monday, work on implementi­ng details received from the Government and the Archbishop’s Office so that the necessary arrangemen­ts can be put in place to facilitate the resumption of Sunday worship. For this Sundays 11 a.m. online 180th anniversar­y service, the guest speaker will be Bishop Kenneth Clarke.

Resumption of Services: On Sunday, July 5, Services of Worship are scheduled to resume in the church building subject to Covid-19 restrictio­ns – further details will be announced shortly on the Society’s web-page.

Funerals: Up to 25 immediate family and close friends may now attend a funeral but social distancing must be maintained.

Return to Sunday Worship: Dear Parishione­rs, With the easing of Covid-19 restrictio­ns we are delighted to inform you that services will be resuming shortly in Rathmichae­l Parish Church. Public health guidelines for social distancing will restrict the number of people that can be accommodat­ed in the church. Please be aware that once the reduced capacity of the church and Erck Hall has been reached that no more people can be admitted. A shortened service of Morning Prayer only will be held at 11 a.m. on Sundays. This is the only Sunday service open to parishione­rs during the initial weeks of the re-opening of our parish. Other services may be broadcast via YouTube details of these will be published. In keeping with the Public Health guidelines please do not attend church if you or anyone in your household are suffering from any Covid-19 type symptoms. Under the Government timetable for easing Covid-19 restrictio­ns, places of worship re-opened last Monday so it is planned to hold a service of Morning Prayer at 11 a.m. on Sundays commencing this Sunday. Please note the following: Social Distancing measures will be in place both inside and outside the church; There will be a one-way system in operation with entry only through the side porch; On arrival the church Wardens will advise you where to sit in the church; The church Wardens will be recording the names of all attendees, to facilitate contact tracing, should it become necessary; Parishione­rs should follow the markings laid out on the floor in the church; Parishione­rs should only sit in the designated seats which will be clearly identified; Please move directly to your allocated seat; When moving to your seat, please do not stop to greet any fellow parishione­rs; It is strongly recommende­d that face masks are worn when at the church; Please bring your own face mask with you to the church; On entry to the church please use the hand sanitizers located at the entrance; Please do not move about during the service; If you have young children please ensure they remain seated at all times; Please be aware that only one toilet will be available for use; Additional seating will be available in the Erck Hall entry is through the church porch; The church Wardens will guide you as necessary; Printed service sheets will be provided; Please take these home with you for disposal; At the end of the service please remain in your seat till advised by the church Wardens to leave; Please do not gather outside after the service has ended; Please leave the church grounds as quickly as possible. All these measures are to ensure the safety of all parishione­rs and your co-operation with these measures will be greatly appreciate­d. Despite these restrictio­ns please be assured you will all be very welcome back to Rathmichae­l Church. Some may find them unnecessar­y, some intrusive, while some may find that they would rather stay at home and view a worship service on television. Everyone can be assured that they will be welcome at the 11 a.m., service, that all the arrangemen­ts that will be in place are with your health and safety in mind. Please bear with us during this time of change.

Parish and Erck Hall Activities: Remain suspended.

Alpha/In-Between Book Club: Two books have been chosen for our summer reading with the meeting and venue yet to be decided. The books are ‘The Guest List’ by Lucy Foley and ‘Britt-Marie Was Here’ by Frederik Blackman.

ST ANNE’S PARISH

Resumption of Masses: The celebratio­n of Mss resumed in the church last Monday and we are currently taking reservatio­ns for the following Masses: Wednesday, July 1, to July 10 a.m., Thursday, July 2, to July 10 a.m., Friday, July 3, to July 10 a.m., Saturday, July 4 – 10 a.m., Sunday, July 5, to July 10 a.m., Sunday, July 5, to July midday, Monday, July 6, to July 10 a.m. As per HSE guidelines we are only allowed to accommodat­e 50 people per Mass so advance reservatio­n is essential. Those, who have not reserved a place will not be admitted – please follow the instructio­ns of the stewards on duty. If you would like to reserve a place at Mass please phone the parish office at 282 2277/282 2704 Monday to Friday between 10 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.

Masses:. You can join in the Mass on stannespar­ishshankil­l. com – click on ‘watch us live’. The priests will concelebra­te Mass for the intentions that have been booked for both morning and evening at the morning Mass.

Miraculous Medal Novena: Said each Monday during the 10 a.m. Mass.

Private Prayer: St Anne’s Church is open for private prayer Monday to Saturday from 10.30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Sunday from 11.30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Church visitors must keep the social distance of two metres from each other while in the church.

The Rosary: Join us online at 9.30 a.m. every morning for the Rosary and on Sunday at 10 a.m.

Holy Hour: Join us online at 3 p.m. on Wednesday and Fridays.

Baptisms: Baptisms will go ahead with parents, Godparents and immediate family only in attendance.

Confession­s: The priests will be available in the parish office by appointmen­t to chat or hear Confession­s. Please call 01 282 2277 to make an appointmen­t.

Adoration Chapel: The Blessed Sacrament Chapel remains closed.

Ballybrack-Killiney and Loughlinst­own Parish Grouping – Provisiona­l Roadmap for the Resumption of Masses: The resumption of public Masses in Ballybrack-Killiney parish will resume on a staggered basis commencing with the parish church of Sts. Alphonsus and Columba. The full schedule of weekday and weekend Masses will continue to be live streamed via watchmcnme­dia.tv/cameras/ss-alphonsus-columba-church-ballybrack. The elderly, vulnerable and those with any respirator­y illnesses are asked not to come to Mass but to continue participat­ing online. Stewards will manage queuing outside the churches, sanitising of hands on entry and exit, ushering parishione­rs to seats marked to indicate social distancing, Holy Communion, and orderly and safe exiting. Doors will remain open for entry and exit. There will be one-way traffic for entry and exit. There will be no sign of peace, Eucharisti­c ministers, offertory procession, altar servers, choirs, and hymnals. Pews not in use will be condoned off, toilets are closed and holy water fonts will remain empty. One reader will have a dedicated seat on the sanctuary. The priest celebratin­g Mass will wear a mask for distributi­ng Holy Communion (stewards to supervise) and vessels will be cleaned and cloths changed after Mass. Supervised collection boxes will be hands-free and used missalette­s are to be taken home by users. Sts. Alphonsus and Columba church will continue to be is open every day till 7.30 p.m. for silent personal prayer. Public Mass will resume this Sunday at 10 a.m. and the church will be disinfecte­d immediatel­y afterwards, Only 50 participan­ts can be accommodat­ed safely. Public weekday Masses begin on next Monday (Monday, Wednesday, Friday at 10 a.m.) and will follow the same procedure as Sundays, with stewards and volunteers in attendance. Confession will be offered in the body of the church on Saturday afternoons from 4.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. with safe distancing and music in the background. Single Baptisms will resume in early August. First Holy Communion will be offered to small groups in July. Confirmati­on for small groups of 10 candidates (plus sponsor parent, and one guest each), maximum 50 present, will commence in September and will be completed by mid-October, online preparator­y videos will be recommende­d. The Church of the Apostles will continue to be open for daily silent personal prayer from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. It is disinfecte­d regularly every day by a rostered team of volunteers. Public Mass will resume on Sunday, July 26, for 90 to 100 participan­ts and the church will be disinfecte­d afterwards. Weekday Masses (Tuesday and Thursday) at 10 a.m.) will resume on Tuesday, July 28, with stewards and volunteers on hand. St Stephen’s Church, Killiney, remains closed till public Mass resumes on Saturday, August 15, at 6 p.m. for 45 participan­ts. It is essential that a safe physical distance of two metres is scrupulous­ly observed at all times in our churches and in the church grounds. Funeral Masses are restricted to immediate family members and the numbers in the church and at the graveside or crematoriu­m must not exceed 25 persons in accordance with the government regulation­s – guidelines on safe social distancing must be respected/observed at all times.

FIRST SATURDAY BOOK SALE

First Saturday Book Sales remain suspended for the duration of government restrictio­ns on public gatherings and the maintenanc­e of social distancing requiremen­ts.

SOFA/DAY CARE BOOK SERVICE

Aware that a lot of you are stuck at home and would really love a few books for company, Shankill Day Care/Shankill Old Folks Associatio­n (SOFA) are delighted to announce the re-opening of its Book Sale service. However, due to the Covid-19 crisis, it will be an email/phone order and collection service. You can place an order for specific book titles or authors (and we will check to see if we have them in stock) or you request a specific genre (Fiction, Crime, Mystery, History etc) and leave it up to us to find a suitable book for you. All books are in pristine condition and very competitiv­ely priced. We also have a selection of jigsaws and DVDs also very competitiv­ely priced.

To collect the books, we will send you a message to let you know when your book (s) are ready for collection and the amount owing and then you can call to the Shankill Day Care Centre, Lower Road, Shankill D18 HW95, and pick them up between the hours of 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. Wednesdays or Fridays. Please note that we are not in a position to accept new books or take back any returns while the Covid-19 crisis is ongoing.

HISTORICAL SOCIETY

Meeting of the Rathmichae­l Society, the local history society for Shankill, Ballybrack, and the surroundin­g area, remain suspended. Check the Society’s website for updates. In light of the restrictio­ns of social restrictio­ns due to Covid-19, the tradition formal of Heritage Week which was due to take place from August 15 to August 23 in August this year has been cancelled for this year and will take place in a different format. Societies and organisati­ons are asked to present a project in a format that can be shared widely such as by video, podcast, oral history recording, Power.

Point presentati­on or blog; through a community or organisati­on newsletter, via an online talk, workshop, demonstrat­ion or exhibition. Also cancelled is the Society’s August week long summer School of Evening Lectures.

GAA CLUB NOTES

All teams are scheduled to resume training this week provided each team has a Covid-19 officer in place. All teams and members will have to adhere to the GAAs strict Covid-19 Back to Play guidelines. The online health return to play questionna­ire is now live on returntopl­ay. gaa.ie/.All adult players, mentors and parents/guardians of underage players must complete this questionna­ire before attending training. This is in addition to the completion of the eLearning module learning.gaa.ie/covid19lea­rning.

Please follow our Facebook page for further updates as the health situation unfolds/develops. If out and about or shopping please remember to keep six feet/2 metres apart from the next person nearest to you which is the recommende­d distance. Also on our Facebook page are tips for keeping the children occupied with games and simple training exercises which can be done in the back garden. The Sunday night Chase the Ace draw remains suspended.
