DEVELOPMENT IN NEWCASTLE: WHAT YOU SAID

Thank you to everyone who responded to the survey regarding the proposed construction of a mixed use development, including 35 houses and apartments, 3 commercial units and the provision of a town and linear park in the field known as the Lawn Field, beside the Castle Inn in the village.

In the past the views and opinions of the residents in relation to developments in the village have been obtained by way of a village meeting.

Due to the current Covid-19 restrictions on assemblies of this nature, it was felt that the safest method to obtain the views of residents was via an online survey, which collected responses over the period of a week in early June.

There was a full and robust response from the community, and you can see the results here https://drive.google.com/ file/d/15-GffN6BF7Xb-5sG5i4SkNPNSUtznXO8/view

The Resident’s Association are considering what action it’s appropriate to take in light of these responses. The full planning application can be viewed on Wicklow County Council’s website referencing Planning Application number 20298.

KEEP THE VILLAGE TIDY

Although the Tidy Towns competition isn’t going ahead this year, we still want to keep the village looking as beautiful as always, so we’ll be continuing the summer tradition of Monday evening clean ups. Join us at 7.30 p.m. at the Castle Inn carpark every Monday from June 29. Don’t forget to bring your own gloves!
