more clinical on occasions like that. If we get it 2-2 on the hour mark then it’s anybody’s game but unfortunately we didn’t take the chance and the ‘keeper pulled off a fantastic save just after that. ‘

Cronin now faces UCD and Shamrock Rovers II on Friday and Tuesday respectively. He hopes to have Gary Shaw – who limped off on Friday – fit for both and he has his fingers crossed that the visit of the Student scan kick-start a run of wins for Bray.

‘You look at the league, a draw could get you into the play-offs or knock you out of the play-offs. That’s how tight it is and when you look at the results…all teams are capable of taking points off each other – that’s the way it’s going to play out. These next few games; if you want to be up there you have to win games and why not these two games? But at the same time, UCD are a good young outfit and there really is no team that will be a given in this league. We have to be positive and go out on the front foot and try to win the games on Friday and on Tuesday.’

Dylan Barnett will no doubt feature in both ties but the question is - in which position? He normally plies his trade as a left-back but has also popped up on the wing and found himself at centre-half for the last two outings. The Bray native must be one of the best talents in this division?

‘I wouldn’t dispute that! We’re delighted to have him and obviously with him being from Bray, he’s the type of player you want at the football club and Dylan is very adaptable. He has abilities going forward and he has great defensive qualities. There’s stuff for every player to improve on and Dylan is no different but he is an excellent footballer. We’re delighted to have him.’
