Glencormac United have their shooting boots on

Glencormac United had their shooting boots on for their midweek meeting with Newtown United, running out 6-1 winners in their Andy McEvoy Premier Division match last Wednesday.

Luke Barry, Nathan Watters, Josh O’Callaghan, Sam O’Callaghan, Ryan Nolan and John Treanor all hit the back of the net for the Glens, with Aaron Byrne replying for the Magpies.

Wicklow Rovers had a good 7-1 win against a very much understren­gth Rathnew side on Sunday. The winners played some neat and tidy football on the day and were clinical in front of goal with some excellent finishing. James Lang and Jamie

Power both fired home a brace apiece, with Hugh Humby, Jack Crowley and Alan Power all adding singles.

Meanwhile, St. Peter’s have a firm grip on the trophy after edging out Glencormac 5-4 in a thriller (see focus match).

Pat O’Toole Division 1

Patrick Woods bagged the only goal of the game to earn high-flying Roundwood a priceless three points as they edged out Conary United last Wednesday evening.

Adam Rochford netted a double for Aughrim Rangers in their 4-2 triumph over Conary United, with Dylan Rochford and Neven O’Sullivan adding to their tally and Niall McCauley and John Andrew Kinsella replying.

On Sunday a late Stephen McCauley goal earned Conary a share of the spoils against Arklow United. Jack Kavanagh fired the Arklow outfit in front with ten minutes remaining, but they couldn’t hold out for maximum points.

Division 3

Avonmore picked up six points in the past week, when coming out on top against Greystones United on Wednesday and following it up with a win over Ballywaltr­im.

Darren Beavor and Oisin McGraynor both bagged doubles in their 4-2 triumph over Greystones, with Dan Byrne and Seán Minogue responding.

On Sunday they overcame Ballywaltr­im 3-1, with Jake Hamilton, Wesley O’Toole and Danny Sheehan netting for the winners.

Greystones got back to winning ways on Sunday, with an Oisin Keogh double earning them a hard-fought 2-1 win over Arklow Celtic. David Kavanagh got the Celtic goal.

Meanwhile, Shamrock Celtic and Carnew both registered 3-0 victories, with wins over Ballywaltr­im and Arklow Celtic respective­ly. Darren Collopy (two) and Scott Meaney got the Shamrock goals, while Jason Cowman helped himself to a hat-trick for Carnew.

Wicklow Town closed in on the John

Tobin Youth League title last Wednesday with a 10-0 victory over Arklow United.

Reilly Hogan netted four goals in an impressive attacking display, with Dylan Kavanagh, Callum Kelly, Jack Fox, Nathan Sullivan, Nicky Flood and Ross Quinn also getting in on the act.

Meanwhile, the Wicklow Rovers U-17s recorded a good 2-1 win away to second-placed Coolboy Rangers.

Rovers went in front when Michael Cassidy got on the end of a Seán Murphy cross to fire to the net.

Michael Cassidy made it 2-0 moments later to put Rovers in the driving seat.

The home side came more into it after the break and scored what proved to be a consolatio­n goal midway through the half.
