FACE MASK DONATION

I am hoping to help out our community with face masks now becoming part of most people’s everyday life, along with face coverings now being mandatory on public transport. So to help our community get back out there I have been in touch with the amazing team from MASKS4ALL and MASKS4ALL Wicklow Hub, who are amazing life changing volunteers and they very kindly donated masks for our community.

If you or a person you know would benefit from a mask (this may help members of the community in their transition from cocooning and also assist our community live less restrictive lives while keeping the virus out of the community) please contact Ciara at 087 6380155 and I will arrange delivery.

NEWTOWN JUNIORS FC

In line with Government and FAI recommendations we are pleased to announce that Rory Hackett has agreed to be the club COVID-19 Compliance Officer for the small sided game and training areas. Rory recently completed the Risk Assessment for the club, and this was sent to FAI, who have in turn given us the go ahead to return to training once we continue following all FAI Protocols.

Likewise, our secretary Hughie Nolan has agreed to be the club COVID-19 Officer for the 11 a side pitches and he has in turn has done a Risk Assessment and this has been sent into the FAI.

The aim of Newtown Juniors FC on our return to training/games is to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone, once we adhere to the guidelines laid down. We will be continuing to update all protocols as we get them from the FAI, and we will also be holding regular de-briefing meetings with all coaches and supervisors. Anyone, who requires further information can contact any committee member of the club.

The WDSL matches will start back at the end of August and initially it will be by phasing in the age groups starting with the older age groups first. The under-13s will be back in action on Sunday, August 23, with the under-12s and 14’s back the following week on the Saturday, August 29. The under-8s to under-11s will all kick off on the weekend of September 5/6 2020.

We are always on the lookout for new players for all our teams, especially the older teams. If you have a budding Séamus Coleman or Áine O’Gorman get them involved with one of our teams and we would only be delighted to have them. All our coaches are fully garda vetted and FAI accredited, and they will all learn new skills in a fun and enjoyable environment. At the moment we have no news regards a start update for our extremely popular Development Squad for 5-7 year olds owing to the uncertain times we are living in at present. When we have more information on the DS, we will communicate details to everyone concerned.

Everyone in the club sends their best wishes to Alannah Gray form our under-nines team who recently broke her arm and Mikey Synnott from the under-12s who recently suffered a collarbone injury. Everyone hopes they will be out on the pitch again very soon doing what they do best.

As well as looking for new players, we are always on the lookout for volunteers to fill several Roles within the club. Recently we have been busy renewing and reviewing our Club Safety Statement and our Club Risk Assessments. We have also had several volunteers, who did their Safeguarding Refresher 1 and we await courses both at Safeguarding and at Child Welfare when certain restrictions are lifted. We would like to recruit a couple of MPs (Mandated Person) and DLPs (Designated Liaison Person) to assist those already in these roles. Those already in the roles are also coaches within the club and are on the executive committee but we would like volunteers to solely concentrate on these roles. Full training will be provided. The roles are not very time consuming and may interest someone who would like to volunteer in the club in some capacity.

Newtown Juniors FC would like to extend their best wishes for a speedy recovery to well known Newtown native and Wicklow League referee Fran Martin, who is currently ill in hospital. Everyone in Newtown hope to see Fran out and about very soon.

Newtown Juniors FC extend their sincere condolences to the family and friends of Mary Kavanagh (Wicklow Town) who sadly passed away recently. May she rest in peace.

For further information on all matters Newtown Juniors FC please contact the secretary at 087 6987653 or by email to hughienolan@gmail.com and you can also follow the club on our Facebook and Twitter pages.
