Showman Rob releases new single
ROB Vickers is no stranger to the stage, and with over 25 years as an Irish and international singer, he has the reputation and showmanship to back up that statement.
Rob is from Wicklow town and has starred as the lead role in Les Misérables in London’s West End for two years, as well as starring in many other productions in Ireland and the UK. He has also released various Christmas singles down the years.
He says: ‘I’ve been there, done that and worn the t-shirt.’
Now he is gearing up for the release of his new single ‘Best days of our lives’.
‘A great song to me has a great hook and with the right amount of storytelling and raw emotion it can make that song so relatable to everyone,’ says Rob.
‘It can take on a life of it own to the person listening to it. That’s the power of music and I absolutely love what I do. My new single ‘Best days of our lives’ is a reflective look back on youth and nostalgia and maybe a little insight into what a young wide-eyed 17-year-old singer and dreamer from the small town of Wicklow, getting swept up in the exciting Irish pub and club rock scene with late nights performing and the long journeys to the next venue.’
He had a particular sound in mind for the song.
‘I wanted to give the song that stadium anthem sound. It’s what the song deserved as it went from concept to reality. I want my music to cross the divide so young and old can relate to its message and its universal appeal.’
Rob believes music is more important than ever, and can help bring people together in these difficult and unprecedented times.
‘ The Covid-19 pandemic really put the entertainment industry on ice. It completely ground the momentum of the live music machine to a halt.
‘But after the initial panic and concern for a world-altering event in our lifetime, it allowed me time to really sit down and come up with some great songs in my isolation. I’m really excited to share them with the world in 2021. It’s what we need now more than ever; escapism for us to suspend that knowing reality of the world’s current situation. That’s the beauty of music and its power It can bring you back to when things were simple, less complicated and the world was yours for the taking.’
