Kenny makes passionate plea for help

WICKLOW GAA Games Manager Hugh Kenny has made an impassione­d plea to coaches around the county to get involved with the GCA panels when the action gets underway in March.

In a message to all clubs in the county, Kenny said that it’s almost 12 months since the GCA players were last together and that the county needed to be in a position to carry on the ‘good work over the last few years’ when the green light is given to return to action.

‘With both the Coiste na nÓg and Adult board meetings coming up in the next week or so, I’m appealing to Clubs to help identify potential GCA Coaches to work with our academy squads in hurling and football. We are in a very difficult situation at present due to the Covid-19 regulation­s,’ said the former Baltinglas­s and Wicklow footballer.

‘But we hope to be in a position get back working with our academy squads in March if regulation­s allow. We need to be in a position to carry on the good work over the last few year with our squads. We now need additional help and support to deliver a coaching programme in 2021. If any club coaches are interested please contact the under lined ASAP. It’s nearly 12 months since GCA players were together collective­ly as a group.

‘We know that our coaches are busy with their own club teams... but we can’t all sit back and take that approach.

‘Remember we are all from Wicklow, and we are as proud as any other county that plays GAA. Please pick up the phone and let’s have a conversati­on,’ he added.
