Dwyers and Blesso win

-

THE O’Reilly Cup got underway this week in 1993 in Wicklow with wins for Michael Dwyers and Blessington over Dunlavin and Baltinglass respectively.

Dwyers hammered the holders in the game played in Knockananna (2-12 to 0-2), with goals from Ciaran Boland and John Paul Foley in the opening half helping the home side to a 2-4 to 0-2 advantage at the break.

The strong Dwyers side started the second half very positively with Geoffrey Bermingham and John Keogh dominating the midfield area and the game was soon beyond a Dunlavin team who disappointed.

Dwyers full-back John Fleming is noted as the man of the match with Daniel O’Neill, Ciaran English, Enda Walshe, Gerry Daly and Liam Toomey shining bright for Dunlavin.
