SHEEP SALE - JANUARY 16: First sale of 2021 was a small sale but a good with prices improved by €20-€24 from our last sale in December. Online demand was good and there was a complete clearance.

SHEEP SALES - JANUARY 12: All types of fat hogget’s better by €10 to €15 per head on last week.

Heavy Lambs €148 to €153 or €97 to €101 over €/kg; Factory Lambs €136 to €148 or €90 to €98 over €/kg; Store Lambs over 40 Kgs €110 to €128 or €70 to €84 over €/kg; Store Lambs over 35kgs €88 to €110 or €55 to €73 over €/kg; Heavy Ewes €124 to €136 per head; Feeding Ewes €86 to €120 per head.

CATTLE SALES - JANUARY 14: Very strong trade for all types of cattle, both bullocks and heifers.

Store Bullocks €550 to €850 over €/kg; Fr Store Bullocks €400 to €600 over €/kg; Store Heifers €420 to €650 over €/kg; FR Store Bullocks €260 to €430 over €/kg; Beef Cows €400 to €600 over €/kg; Feeding Cows €160 to €280 over €/kg.

SHEEP SALE – JANUARY 14: Large entry with 3231 head on offer saw record prices hitting a top price of €163 for 70kg lambs – Cull ewes sold to €144 while in lamb ewes sold from €150- €200.

CATTLE SALE – JANUARY 16: Large entry with 960 cattle on offer including 280 cows, 180 heifers, 280 bullocks, 120 bulls and 100 calves.

The cattle trade was outstandin­g with excellent prices for all classes – Dry cows sold to €2,000 for a 906kg CH cow. Beef and Forward cattle were in string demand with northern buyer, Factory agents and feed lots competing strongly.
