Powerscour­t Graveyard: The upkeep of our beautiful graveyard is important to us as this holy place provides peace and sanctuary for many visitors and we ask that you clean-up after your dog and that all are kept on a lead. In order to maintain the natural sense of our country graveyard, we request that no coloured stones are used on graves and that grave owners take responsibi­lity to remove and dispose of wreaths or floral decoration­s once they have fulfilled their purpose.

ST MARY’S CHURCH

Signed Mass Cards: These are available in the parish office. An offering is received with gratitude and in another way of supporting your local clergy.

Masses Update: Everyone remains dispensed from the obligation of physically attending Sunday Mass by the Archbishop of Dublin for the duration of the present Level 5 Lockdown emergency. Weekday Mass is broadcast by RTÉ News Now at 10.30 a.m. and also through EWTN, and the Radio Maria channel which can be found in Saorview and Channel 210. Mass from Knock Shrine is broadcast each day at midday; Rosary at 7 p.m. and Mass at 7.30 p.m. on knockshrin­e/watch-live; Mass is also broadcast by web-came from St Mary’s Pro Cathedral Dublin. For a list of churches broadcasti­ng Mass by web-cam go to dublindioc­ese.ie or Google ‘massonline’ for details of Masses streamed in Ireland and Britain.

Updated Covid Restrictio­ns: The celebratio­n of Public Masses in St Mary’s and St Mochonog’s remain discontinu­ed following a return to Level 5 Lockdown and will take place only online till further notice. Mass Times in St Mary’s Church are 10.15 a.m. Monday to Saturday and midday on Sunday and can be viewed at enniskerry­parish.ie.

Private Prayer in Our Churches: St Mary’s is open for private prayer Monday to Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily and on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Please wear a face covering and sanitise your hands on entry and exit from church and remember to observe social distancing while in these church and in the church grounds.

Religious Services: Following the Government decision to move to Level 5 Lockdown, attendance restrictio­ns to the following Religious Service apply – up to 10 mourners can attend funerals while for weddings up to six are permitted to attend a wedding ceremony and reception, whether indoors or outdoors.

Mass Offerings: If you wish to have Mass offered for a family member or friend you may book through the parish office and the Mass may be viewed on Webcam from your home at enniskerry­parish.ie.

Funeral Arrangemen­ts: At present, the following rules strictly apply to any funeral that is to take place in our parish. A maximum of 10 mourners are permitted to attend the funeral either inside or outside the church. Details of the funeral arrangemen­ts i.e. the time and date of the funeral should not be widely published by newspaper, online notice, social media, or other means. No person should attend a funeral who is known to be, or suspected of being infected with the Covid-19 virus. The coffin will be received at the foot of the altar, where the final blessing will also take place. The coffin should not be carried in the church. Every person attending a funeral must wear an appropriat­e face covering at all times. Every person attending a funeral must maintain a clear distance of at least two metres (six feet seven inches) at all times between themselves and anyone outside their household group. Please note that a household group is a group of people currently living together

in the household. A family is not necessaril­y a household group. No live singing is permitted in the church. Every person attending a funeral in the church must sit only in their designated place.

Webcam in St Mary’s Church: A webcam in the church broadcasts Holy Mass over the internet which now can be viewed on a mobile phone, personal computer, laptop, kindle or any smart device. All Holy Masses are streamed live through the parish website. Please check into the website – enniskerry­parish.ie. The view of the Sanctuary will be available outside these times for prayerful reflection.

CCTV: There are CCTV cameras in the car park as well in the church to enhance the safety of all those who use the car park and to assist in the prevention of anti-social behaviour and ensuring that people are observing social distancing as this is essential outside the church.

Maintainin­g Contact With Our Parishione­rs: The Enniskerry Parish website has been updated so that our parish community can tune in and engage in a Spiritual Communion – go to enniskerry­parish.ie and click on the Daily Mass link on the home page.

On the parish website there is a Daily Reflection, a Pastoral Letter from Fr Bernard and Fr Hyacinth along with resources for families and prayers at home during this time. Parishione­rs will be updated on developmen­ts every week via our weekly Parish Link Newsletter which will be available each Friday on the parish website. More resources will be added in the coming days and weeks including Mass resources and spiritual links for all.

Keeping in Contact Fr Bernard, Fr Hyacinth and the parish offices are available to you should you need to make contact. HISTORY SOCIETY

Members and supporters of the Enniskerry History Society can catch up on their local history reading with the current Jan/Feb February issue of History Ireland magazine which include articles on ‘ War of Independen­ce/Civil War – ‘Tipperary’s ‘disappeare­d’ by Pádraig Óg Ó Ruairc; ‘Eleanor, Countess of Desmond (15451638)’ by Anne Chambers; and ‘Nell Humphreys and the Mother of Perpetual Succour’ by Margaret Ryan.

ENNISKERRY LIBRARY

The library currently remains closed under Level 5 Restrictio­ns and will re-open when permitted to do so. Books due back have been automatica­lly renewed. Online services including e-books, audio-books, digital magazines and newspapers and e-learning remain available from the library website.

MEALS ON WHEELS

The Meals on Wheels service operates in Enniskerry and Kilmacanog­ue and delivers hot meals every Tuesday and Thursday to older people in their homes. It’s an opportunit­y to connect with the community and provide a hot meal and social contact to older people in the area.

Volunteer drivers are sought who can give up two or three hours twice a month to facilitate this much needed service. Interested volunteers should contact Maoiliosa Kelly at 086 8322466 for further informatio­n.

BEREAVEMEN­T SUPPORT

Have you been impacted by a bereavemen­t during COVID-19? Are you finding it more difficult to cope with a pre-Covid bereavemen­t at this time? Would it help to talk to someone in confidence about your loss?

The Irish Hospice Foundation Bereavemen­t Support Line is a national freephone service 1800 80 70 77 which is available from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday to Friday. The line aims to provide comfort and emotional support.

COMMUNITY CALL HELPLINE

Hours of the Wicklow County Council’s Covid-19 Helpline are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Sunday. The helpline is to facilitate the collection and delivery of food and other items for people who are suffering from social isolation, for Garda related issues and other medical/health needs. ALONE manage a national support line and additional supports for older people who have concerns or are facing difficulti­es relating to the outbreak of Covid-19 (Coronaviru­s). Profession­al staff are available to answer queries and give advice and reassuranc­e where necessary. The support line is open seven days a week, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., by calling 0818 222 024.
