‘The main challenge has been growing our team’
ACTIVITY The past year has been very strong with continued double-digit growth for the firm. We have had a number of new client wins, with our tax and international teams are in demand from existing and new clients.
OPERATIONS The main challenge has been growing our team, with the difficulties sourcing quality candidates in the current tight labour market. In addition we have to maintain our collaborative and supportive culture across the firm whilst ensuring we continue to deliver exceptional service to our clients. As we continue to grow and take on new team members, it is important that we help all team members reach their potential, by ensuring our teams receive appropriate supports and continue to develop their skills to meet clients’ needs in the future. Our clearly defined career pathway, together with ongoing training and support, have greatly helped in retaining our current team.
ENHANCED REPORTING Enhanced Reporting Requirements has put an additional administrative burden on clients at a time where staff resources are already tight, and adding to the workload is unhelpful. It is evident that some of the software providers need more time to update their programmes and test their packages before clients can trust their systems.
PROFESSION Understanding ledgers and the causes and effects of the figures will always be important for accountants. Technology enables and aids accountants’ ability to provide services to their clients in a timely manner and assists in getting through large data quickly. The accountant of tomorrow must embrace IT, in particular AI, whilst at the same time continue to develop their communication skills and abilities to help their clients in an ever changing business landscape.
