-

STABANNON Parnells resumed their league campaign with a hard fought win over St.Mochtas in Louth Village.

The score remained close throughout the game and it ended with only a kick of the ball between the teams.

Jenny McGuinness opened the scoring for Stabannon with a penalty with St.Mochtas responding with two points closing the gap to a single point.

Amy Malone of Stabannon worked very hard throughout the game and saw one of her efforts sail over the black spot to increase Stabannon’s lead. St.Mochta’s responded with another point and then McGuinness finished the scoring for the first half with a point that left the score at 1-2 to 0-3 in favour of the away team.

In very wet conditions, the second half got under way. The weather conditions proved difficult for both teams to control the ball and this resulted in many errors all over the Pairc.

It was St.Mochta’s who opened the second half with a point. Stabannon responded with a point of their own followed by a well worked goal, only for St.Mochta’s to return the favour with a goal from Eimear Byrne putting 2 points between the teams. Stabannon got another 2 points from McGuinness and Kelly Lynch consecutively. Eimear Byrne found the Stabannon net once again to leave one point between the sides in favour of Stabannon. Aoife Byrne then shot a well struck shot to level the sides at 2-5 apiece. However, Stabannon showed their experience to dig deep and push forward to get one final score by Grace Rogers to finish the score at 2-6 to 2-5.
