Huge medal haul for Cuchalainn Archers at championships
A STRONG contingent from CúChulainn Archers headed to Cavan for the Irish National Outdoor Championships and achieved their goal of bringing home a huge haul of medals.
Éamonn Rogers, Brendan Forde, Fiachra Mac an Bhreithiún, John Keenan, Michelle Williams, Adria Quinn, Christina O’Sullivan, Ann Marie Murray, Shona Judge and Deirdre Rogers all made the trip and were hopeful of success in Individual, Team and Mixed Team competitions.
The archers had to deal with strange weather throughout the two-day competition, with thunder and heavy rain interspersed with strong sunshine and very high temperatures, but they took the challenging conditions and their stride and achieved some superb results.
Gold medals went to Brendan Forde and Shona Judge (Recurve Mixed Doubles); Éamonn Rogers, Fiachra Judge and John Keenan (Men’s Compound); Shona Judge, Michelle Williams and Ann Marie Murray (Women’s Recurve); and Adria Augusta Quinn, Christina O’Sullivan and Deirdre Rogers MhicRuaidhrí (Women’s Compound).
Silver medals were won by Éamonn Rogers and Adria Augusta Quinn (Compound Mixed Doubles); Deirdre Rogers MhicRuaidhrí (Senior Women’s Compound, individual); Adria Augusta Quinn (Senior Women’s Compound, individual); and Deirdre Rogers MhicRuaidhrí (Master Women’s Compound, individual). Bronze went to Fiachra Judge and Deirdre Rogers MhicRuaidhrí (Compound Mixed Doubles); and Shona Judge (Senior Women’s Recurve, individual).
CúChulainn Archers meet in the Parish Centre, Hale Street, Ardee, every Saturday from 11am to 1pm.
